Monitor series deal on NewEgg

I'm on year 9 with both of mine...both theaters are 1080p...one projector, one flat panel... hooked up with a Bluray. I say this just to show you that just because the receivers are old DOES NOT mean that you can't use current technology. To many people see an amp that can't upconvert or have HDMI and they run for the hills....
While I agree that its better to buy used than new, if someone were in the market now, and is looking for a receiver to serve them for many years on end, HDMI should be a pre-requisite IMO (along with pre-outs of course). My System Showcase!

I GOT MY MONITOR SPEAKERS DELIVERED TODAY. The packaging was little roughed up, but the speakers seem to be in good condition. I couldnt find a scratch.:)
I also jumped on a Denon 790 deal at Overstock for $320. It has all the features I want with my (future) 5.1 system. Right now I am at 5.0.
I guess I will have to wait for 1-2 weeks to actually get the reciever, but this price was too good to pass and I liked the Denon also at the dealers.
I hope everythign works out to my satisfaction in the end as I havent listed to Denon with Monitor together. -

I agree with you up to a point. If someone were looking at dropping a decent amount of cash than I would buy something new with all of the 'latest and greatest' as they will be looking at it as a long term solution. When somebody is looking at something inexpensive and they buy something new....I'd be willing to bet that over half the time they will upgrade in a couple of years or less and not be happy with it since most of the time the amp will lack (which REALLY is the most important thing). Why not go for the biggest bang for the buck and not worry about how many HDMI connections it has when one can easily circumvent an older receivers 'shortcomings'?
I agree about pre-outs......so many people overlook this....Onkyo TX-NR809

I cannot find much info on how to "break-in" the monitors? Could some one help, please?
