I guess I am one of the few who thought this movie was... eh... blah at best. I will have to rent it to see if it is better at home than in the theater.
I DID think the SQ was outstanding at the IMAX where I saw it... but the story didn't keep my attention... Hmm... and yes, Zombieland blew this one out of the waterHonoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

We watched this (BD) last night as well. Dialog was definitely a problem, especially Downey's mumbles. Overall, I enjoyed the movies quite a bit...even watched all the extras. The Ritchie stylistic choices were very apparent, but the producers and writer maintain, that we've all been brainwashed by the many renditions of Holmes/Watson on film. Their version is based on what's not described in detail in the Doyle's stories or Holmes canon. The fact that he was a martial artist (something called baritsu), a stick fighter as well and that Watson was an ex-military man, recently retired, in his mid to late 30s, a man of action, not a bumbling sidekick. The prose focuses on his deductive talents, while the film also includes the action. Hey, they made a pretty good case for it. Check it out. As gwsat said (a poster on AVS), if you were expecting your typical Sherlock from GR, then you're bound to be disappointed. I'm sure we'll see the next installment vs Moriarty sometime in late 2011 or early 12.

I remember that I was straining a little to understand what Holmes was saying in the theatre as well. I was hoping the transfer to DVD would correct that problem."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Agree, the dialog was terrible. Too much imitation of an English accent for Downey.

I had no problem with the accent. The Brits all thought it was spot on. It's just the enunciation coupled with his soft undertones didn't get punched up enough during sound processing...probably because adding volume to Downey made the other voices sound off. Most of his lines he delivered in undertone mumbles. I added a couple of dbs to the center and it improved slightly, but I probably could have added a couple of more.

+1. I agree that he speaks very softly by comparison to Jude Law but he was understandable. We thought the movie was very good to excellent and the PQ and SQ were excellent as well. I will definitely watch it again and watch some of the Disc features as well. It's amazing to me that Downey now has two franchises to feed his enormous ego. Good on him as long as he keeps his game clean.Home Theater

The SQ was great. The best to date I have ever heard on my 7.1 setup.
I almost SHAT my pants when the Lord Blackwood voice came into Holmes mind.
By far the best imagining of any Blu-Ray I have ever heard.
+1 on Holmes voice being too low. -
i could barely make out what sherlock/downey was saying the entire movie (bluray). perhaps this is what led to the entire movie plain out sucking for me.
