Mantis,
Will pick up the 1066 on Monday along with the Rotel phono preamp. Must mention that the H/K gets pretty damn warm..some may even say hot..at my preferred listening volume where as the Rotel just kind of laughs at me saying don't you want more? The Rotel barely gets warm. It seems to be begging for LSi's. Poor RT's are getting a real workout lately.
Pics and reviews coming but I doubt my reviews will be anything like what I have read in these forums. Will do my best.

Dan:
I am running it through my Integra receiver for now, just waiting for the new Rotel RSB 1098 to come out and unless someone talks me out of this processor, I am in.
Just a quickie review.....all I want to know is who bought me this new system while I was not looking? I equated it to the first time I had sex but it's also like when you have this really cool muscle car you don't think it could get any better/faster....and along comes a bunch of hot rod parts......so you thought 400 horse power was enough, well think again buckoo, 600 is that much better. Wipe that smile off your face boy!
The music I have been listening to over the past year has finally come to life....Pink Floyd's SACD version of Dark Side of the Moon is mind boggling....the louder the better it sounds. Like you are right in the middle of the band, amazing. No more clipping....only more hearing damage...but damage with clarity.
As a side line, I just picked up some Blue Jeans inter-connects and what a great guy that runs that business. Had the cables ready for me in one day so they could be picked right away. The quality of the cables appears to be good but lets not start another "my cable is bigger than your cable discussion." It just worked out my wife was in the "hood" so picking them up was a snap. Great customer service to Blue Jeans Cables!
Thanks for everyones input over the past several months regarding my whole clipping thing, you all were sound in your advice, especialy all who swore by Rotel.
Thanks again.

burienboys,"my cable is bigger than your cable discussion."
We can go there man.I'd like to lead the way...........
hey glad your digging the amp.You know the rsp1066 is alot cheaper and is a current format preamp. It's a great preamp as I almost came home with it myself.I played with it for months.I will say the Rotel is the best bang for your buck gear I have ever came in contact with.Never have I hear receivers sound lik eseperates or as close as one can get out of a receiver.....man what a value....
There power amps are very powerful and under rated. They got crazy dynamic range.I love em.
Using the Integra as a preamp.....well do what you gotta do for the time, but when you get into a Rotel preamp, your going to reach yeat another level of performance. You think it sounds good now huh??????Just wait my man.....Mr.Blue jeans wire man......
Hey are they stone washed ?waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaDan

No there still at this point no substitute..........but If I had to go backwards for any reason,my bus would just stop at Rotel and be done with it.
If you haven't noticed,I give my full respect to Rotel for what they offer and at the price they can be had at.......
Your a funny guy I'll sayDan

Dan:
You mentioned the RSP 1066 as being a good processor. Do you not think the new 1098 is worth the wait and extra $500?
Rick -
Wait, Rick, 1098 msrp is $2999, are you saying you can get it for about $2k? if so, hell, yeah, great deal worth waiting..I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
-
Polkatese:
Is your MSRP figure correct for the new 1098 at $2999? Wow! if it is. I thought I read it was going to be $1999 which would make it affordable but $2999? That's a bunch of dough, it better have "multiple purposes" and I don't mean just HT.
Does the 1066 decode SACD and DVD-a as well?
Cheers,
Rick -
Rick,
I've been watching 1098 for about 2 months now, initially get very excited about it. MSRP is indeed $3k (there is some more info on Club Rotel on HTF). It comes with an LCD screen, card cage design, etc. But, release date has been pushed back twice, from March, to April, to May. So, I quit waiting and went with B&K ref 50. So far so good...no lcd panel though. I don't know what you meant by whether 1098 decodes SACD/DVD-A as well. If you meant whether it has some sort of direct digital multichannels path like the Denon Link or PE link, then the answer is no, it does not.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Polkatese:
Thanx for the info. I know what you mean about the postponing thing....what's up with that? Makes you want to be the first in your neighborhood to own one....not!
The B & K has a receiver built in as well, does it not? The MSRP for both processors are about the same?
Maybe I should consider B & K as well....
Thanks again
Rick -
Rick,
B&k Reference 50 has a built-in tuner too. It's a pre/pro. Here is the link:
B&K Reference 50
MSRP is about the same as the 1098, except the usual discount on B&K is more like 25%, so it can be significantly less. Check it out at your local dealer that carry them. You won't be disappointed. On HT, it is much more user-tweakable compared to the 1066 (don't know about 1098)...You can read some of my thoughts/opinion on the other thread in which I compared it to Rotel RSX-1065. Check it out...I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Polkatese:
Thanks for the info. Who offers B & K at a discount of 25%
I have seen a web store but forgot the name, who offers B & K at a discount.
Really appreciate your input, good stuff.
Thanks again
Rick
