There is something to be said for high-quality HDMI cables (and digital coax as well) but I have yet to see reason to use esoteric materials and so on. Any well constructed cable seems to do the job.-Kevin

So bottom line is that a Blu Ray connected thru a HDMI/DVI cable hooked up to a RPTV will have a much better picture than an upconverted DVD player connected thru component cables to the same TV?
Get a BDP to play BR movies and keep your old DVDP for red-book DVD movies.
BDP can upconverted RED but BDP will be at its best at BR disc. I keep my DVDP PIO DV58 for standard red-book and the Pio BDP51/95 for my BR playing.
If you will be using HDMI out, get the standard Oppo 83. If you use analog out please get the Oppo 83 SE for one box solution. -

Agree. Monster, Belkin, Sony,Monoprice....etc..are all the same.
I have to admit that to certain extend "either you have bandwith or you don't" as most people claim is true however some people with the Pio Elie Plasma Display claim there is subtle difference in color. They claim Mono-price are little too dark....
I have not yet seen the difference due to my 32" and 40" LCD display and my HDMI cables are less than 8 feet long.
