What is that different looking driver on the top of the four speaker side? Just a picture flaw?

What is the advantage of the doughnut driver over the later driver used in the tl's if there is one?

What's the purpose of the donut drivers? Do the provide more bass output as opposed to the non-donut drivers?

Polk felt they had to much mids so they stuck the donut on them and I believe that they don't even have full range signal going to them anyway, somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I have 2.3's and 2.3tl's and I will say the tl's sound better the 2.3's with upgraded tweeters sound amazing as well.

It was to increase bass. I can't remember exactly but I *think* later 2.3's (not TL's) eventually used a different MW driver in the 1 and 4 position so only early 2.3's have the donuts and the driver model is MW6513.

I think that is was the other way around, but could be wrong, if you look at the schematic it shows they had 6511's where the donuts are and then its crossed out with 6513 written in. Who knows? Who cares? still sound amazing.

up to 154.27 BTW what a rip off! lol

Actually I took my information straight from the SDA compendium. :) Polk schematics are notoriously wrong because they were rarely updated when changes were made on the fly. That's why I always suggest when using the schematic to actually look at your X-over's and drivers because they made a lot of changes on the fly in those days.

I still wonder why they changed it, all I know is that I threw some 6511's in place of the 6513's one day and could not notice any difference besides looks. weird.

I think they are worth atleast $800-850 if in good condition and I'd bid even more if I could pick them up; that's a great convenience.

These are great sounding speakers. I upgraded mine with the soft dome tweeters and crossover mods. I have not felt the need to get bigger Polks or another brand. Someone is going to be very happy with these. I suspect the bidding will go a bit higher over the next five days. Good luck to whoever is going after these.
