so... of what decade? I think those cover more than 10 years (e.g., Britney's oops -- her first oops of many oopses!) And the Beatles 1.

I think that Britney Spears crap was actually released in 2000-01....the Beatles must have been a re-release sometime in this decade.

Indeed, it is sad when the Beatles narrowly bests NSYNC by a mere 300,000.....yay for boy-bands, I guess. That list is proof that you don't need to be musically talented to sell a shitload of albums!

Well... in 1962, I'd say the Beatles were a boy band, if you want to get technical. Brian Epstein certainly would've thought so :-P

Em has some interesting flow in some raps - it's as much about some of the beats that Dre puts down though (for me and I'm not really a big rap fan).

I'm not into all the shock value of his lyrics though some are funny and witty. I think this is the part that turns teenagers on - the rebellion and swearing---oh swearing ---exciting, drug references etc...

Many rappers I don't listen to or wouldn't listent to. I couldn't tell you the difference between li' wayne, Flo Rida, Young Jeezy or who ever does the Soulja boy song or most of the rest that are out over the last decade. In my mind most are pretty forgettable after their 1 or 2 hits.

I've enjoyed good parts of the catalogs from the below though

I don't even want to think of NSYNC being harolded as one of the best bands of all time 40 years from now!!! I better die before then! LOL!

True...just as a restaurant doesn't need to serve good food to be popular. Some restaurants are wildly successful because of their appealing "atmosphere" and decor and their young and attractive wait staff. The food may be mediocre, yet exorbitantly priced, and the wait staff may be rude, but people tolerate it because it is the "in" place to be seen.

Britney and others of her ilk may not have real musical talent, but they don't need it. They are primarily selling sanitized sexual fantasy rather than quality musical performance. Young women want to be Britney and men of all ages want to have Britney.;)

Honestly, I have enjoyed every artist on that list. Could you really think of any more 'mainstream' artists? All of this music has mass appeal and is easily accessible to a majority of the populous.

In addition to Eminem's edgy lyrics, I think the fact that he's a successful white rapper makes him... more successful.

And I bet everyone here can sing at least a handful of Britney songs regardless of whether or not they like her music style

I couldn't disagree with you more!

I'll take a piece of that action F1nut. I've never heard a any of Britney's songs and have no desire to.

I have an Eminem CD and it sucks.
