I Love Winter

I love winter. My windows are closed, my neighbors are inside with their windows closed, and I can just sit back and listen to music without hearing my neighbors, or disturbing them. Plus, the technology used in my two Cambridge-Audio 840W amps causes them to get hotter than Hades. In the summer it makes listening with windows closed almost unbearable, but in the winter it keeps the room toasty. I hope global warming screws up the weather so bad that it is winter year round. ;)

Must be nice. When I retire I will move to the middle of no where. It sounds like an ideal place. ;)

It's been snowing off and on for two days, but we still only have a dusting. I hear ya about the plow. I live on a private road and the landlord plows it when he feels like it. His house is right on the main road. Luckily I'm the closest to the main road out of the three places back here and get to drive in every one else's tracks.

Of course, being retired all I need is a winter supply of beer and food, so the plows can take all the time they need. :D

Started snowing here on Tuesday and hasn't stopped yet. Started to stick to the ground Friday, we have about 5" now. Can't complain, last year we had over 3' by Thanksgiving, and had record snowfall that didn't quit until May! Usually stops in March.

Oh ya it is fun. Kind of nice. My neighbor lives about a quarter mile back in the woods so his outdoor polk speakers can be cranked up all night long with no one getting man. It is pretty fun.:p

A previous neighbor was an alcoholic who would stay up all night Friday and Saturday drinking with his alcoholic friends. While I could care less about that (been there, still do it once in a while) he had outdoor speakers that got louder and louder the drunker he got. I called the cops on him so many times he finally got the hint and moved. I gave up trying to reason with him when he was drunk since he was a differant person then.

One time it was pretty funny. After the cops came down on him one Friday, the next night around 2 AM he was out back yelling "I'll give you something to call the police for.", and proceeded to haul his stereo outside and set it up. After he started blasting it, the 'more' sober of his friends managed to get him inside and shut it down.

While I like music, I try not to impose it on others, and I hate it when I am assualted by someone elses music.

So, the middle of no where sounds like the perfect place.

Well, this town is in the middle of nowhere ( I think).....I found out that I'm 2 1/2 hours from Toronto, and 6 1/2 from my parents house....

Living in the middle of nowhere has it's perks (few people, do almost whatever you want, quiet, private) and disadvantages (utilities are a pain, emergency services, snow, road conditions). Like everything, it's a matter if the pros outweigh (or for somethings outmaneuver) the cons.

I'm in the middle of no where too....funny, I don't recall seing you! :)

I learned after our first winter here to get my own truck/plow. I learned after last winter's ice storms to supply my own heating fuel(oil truck would not deliver for days) so now I cut firewood and use the oil burner as back up.

I don't really love the winter though...although I do find myself "listening" to music more in winter. In nicer weather we are normally outside with music for background while playing some sort of outdoor games(horseshoes, redneck golf, etc) or just chillin' around the "campfire". It is nice that we can crank up the tunes if we so desire without offending anybody...I think the deer are starting to like it too! I used to really piss off one of my neighbors when we were in town with our music....I think they really looked forward to winter!

In middle of one of the newest developments in the burbs. We are to get about 20cms of snow on Wed. We are on a side street, it doesn't get plowed usually till we are sleeping the night after the storm. Thank god for winter tires and having an SUV. as for neighbours...well, every where we look...there is someone looking back at us...

Livingston, always wanted to visit. Got as far as Bozeman once and also had a rental house in Missoula in the erly '90's (wife from there). We lost our power last night for 5 hours and I live 10 minutes from the state capitol. It was 5 in the p.m. and 26 degrees outside. Finally got power back at 10 and the first thing I did was turned on some music. Got to bed at 2 (after watching & listening to some clips of things blowing up) and back up at 5:30.

God I wish I lived in the middle of nowhere...as long as i could still have broadband internet!

Although I'd trade all that for a house of my own....packing 2 kids and my wife into a 2-bedroom duplex right now. The old lady next door doesn't seem to appreciate my movies knocking things off her walls.

If the neighbors complain about the stereo, I just turn it up until I can't hear them complain anymore. They sure make some funny faces in my window when that happens.
