My Sanyo Sr-290 compact fridge is really noisy. When i plug it in it starts to make a very loud buzzing noise. I have no clue what the problem is.

IS the noise inside the freezer or from the back.
    Something is hitting the fan.
IF it is from the freezer section, try defrosting the freezer by removing everything and leaving it unplugged for a day with the door open.
I have had to do that on a small refer I have, sometimes every 6 months.
Ice builds up inside and the internal fan blades hit it.
But it is really humid here in Seattle.
IF it from the back, something is hitting the small fan, usually in the bottom.
Did you move it around recently? Maybe something got pushed in there.

Do you own a shotgun? If so use it. It will be quiet after the muzzle bast fades away and the ringing in your ears subsides

Ok, so it's extremely difficult to take this thread seriously ... at least for me it is. So, if you don't have a shotgun, I suggest that you unplug it from the outlet. I bet it'll be quiet after that!

So ... now ... why did you post this in Club Polk?

Why not, people ask for medical advice here?

the second pic is sideways, but the noise is coming from the black thing. when i move it a little in any direction the noise goes from a loud buzz to a soft hum.

Well what kind of AVR are you using man? Honestly I'm not sure its ever a good idea to plug a fridge into your stereo. I was also unaware that Polk made a fridge.

Not usually for their first ... and only ... post/thread, however.

Anyhow, assuming you're serious, naz (which I doubt), and you realize that I'm not even an expert on audio, much less refrigerators ... that looks like a very simple, no ventilation design. It may be that it just didn't enjoy being moved. Perhaps you should just leave it off for a couple of days, for the refrigerant to settle down after that moving episode, and then try turning it on again.

If you can't make it go away, you'll just have to buy a new one.

Mine is noisy also, so I put it in the garage. After building up my 2 channel system in the living room, I was not going to tolerate a noisy refridgerator in the kitchen. It turned out to be a big improvement as it freed up room in the kitchen, in addition to making the front part of the house nice and quiet.

On a more serious note. That black thing is the compressor. And it's probably failing from the sound of it. Time for a new fridge, naz.

Compressor could be failing..or it could just be a vibration from the compressor rubbing against something down there. A little fridge will have a thermal overload on it and it will shut down a compressor that is getting hot due to bad windings..the buzz could be a bad compressor if it is short intervals...it gets hot at start up then the thermal shuts it down till it cools off. Or it could be a fan blade hitting something (casing or ice maybe) or the hubon the blade may have come loose and the fan blade is not tight on the fan motoer shaft. It could be many things but I would look for those first. And fyi it is cheaper to buy a new mini than it is to call a repairman and limp an old one along.

I actually had to put an automatic timer on my bar fridge to restrict its run time because it would drive me nuts when I was listening to tunes.
