Maybe it's like BrAdcom instead of Adcom?

You know, like the guy on the corner of 16th and Chestnut with the long coat that'll sell you a "Brolex"?

Maybe you should reconsider the content of your first post and then most here won't mistake you for a spammer.

Then again, if you are going to be this sore and throw a tantrum over what seems to be a misunderstanding with legitimate historical cause then maybe this isn't the place for you anyway.

Just got off the phone with Adcom asking if Sears and KMart are authorized dealers and I was told they are NOT. So I guess if you get them there go for the $50 warranty they offer.

I don't get that. How can an outfit as big as Sears/KMart sell Adcom but not be authorized? Where do they get the product from?

They might have agreements with other 3rd party sellers, such as along the line of what Amazon does. You order at Amazon, and it is shipped from company 'x'.

Why do these amps have captive power cords?
I was under the impression that they were at least Mid-fi level amps.

According to the owners manual, the Adcom draws so much current, that it must be connected directly to the wall with a hard wired 20 amp plug. They even warn against replacing it with an IEC connector.

Oddly enough, the circuit breaker on the back is rated for 15 amps.

Was thinking of getting the 7705 myself, but find it odd that after a few years on the market now, I can't find any reviews, not even user reviews. Maybe no one has ever bought one. That would sure explain the price.

OK, I have to clear something up here. Kmart does not own Sears. They merged. Kmart was going to buy the holding company that held the Sears brand, Sears, Roebuck & Co. I don't know the details but shortly after Kmart Holdings Corporation announced it's intentions, something happened and the Sears Roebuck Foundation was put up for merger and divested from the holdings company that wanted to unload the debt. So they proposed a merger to Kmart Holdings Corporation. Stipulations included debt load transference and the usual merger stuff as well as the Kmart Holdings Company changing its name to Sears Holding Company. Sears & Roebuck Co. shareholders were given converted shares of the new company which amounted to 55% shares and 45% cash or they could opt out for a complete cash buyout.

Alot of the issues surrounded the lack of debt Kmart had and it's liquidity because it did not own the properties it's stores were on nor it's warehouses. But in actuality, Sears was opening large, off-mall stores that were standalone or in small shopping centers. They were in debt but had lucrative property assets. But the debt was so large that investors were considering dismantling the corporation for the underlying Sears real estate which was valued quite high. But all that came out of Sears and the real estate buying glut they went on in the late 90's and early 2000's. What ended up happening is that Sears owned the property that many Kmart stores were on. In fact, Kmart was in bankruptcy in 2003 and when they came out of it, they closed stores which Sears had bought up. So while Sears was tied up in debt and property assets, they weren't suffering enough to be floundering in the stock market and if Kmart was going to buy them, they could easily put a stop to it by booting Kmart off of it's properties and effectively cutting Kmart's footprint and consequently market share, in half. After Kmart's bankruptcy, that kind of damage would have ended them overnight.

So they merged under the Kmart Holdings Corportaion name and changed it to Sears Holdings Corporation. This gave Kmart the asset boost and stability it needed and it gave Sears a larger outlet for it's more upscale lines of products. It also meant that thee Sears shareholders, with valuable assest (valued at $50+ a share) were not hung out to dry. The final company expected a $200 million a year boost in revenue with a $300 million a year drop in operating costs. I don't remember for sure but all that happened in 2005 and I think they saw better than those numbers for the first few years and then the economy took a dump. They seemed to have fared about as well as WAL*MART thanks to the Kmart discount department store positioning the Kmart and Sears Essentials stores had. Although the Sears Essentials program was put out to pasture a year and a half ago I think.

Consequently, Sears Holdings Company is one of the few companies out there, like WAL*MART, that didn't get fleeced in the economy as bad because of how their product lines and stores are positioned. While the $11 billion deal back in 2005 was more of a hail mary, save our **** kinda thing, it seems to have proven to be one of the smartest business moves in recent history. The biggest issue I keep seeing is not in business rags but in IT rags and Sears Holding Company's lack of modern computerization and automation and the fact that many of the Kmart and Sears assets and operations have yet to be fully merged.

    I banned you.

You were banned because of your posts that, for those of us that have been a member here for years, not 2 hours....looked exactly like spam. We weed that stuff out pretty quickly, before people get infected or insulted by a redirected link and unfortunately, you got caught in the crossfire. This is a corporate website viewed by visitors in the millions of hits each week. The tolerance is tighter here than at Dorokusai's "Hey, look at pictures of my dog" homepage. Sorry, but you're an adult I presume.

You immediately called Polk Audio, complained, rightly so as it turns out and subsequently you were reinstated as a valid member....free to contribute to the forum in any number of meaningful ways. No harm, no foul, stuff happens.

However, as predicted, you didn't do anything but end up back in your own thread. There's so many other threads and conversations going on yet here we are again.

If you would take just a little time to explore the place, you may find it extremely helpful and fun. And no, you don't banned for posting in the wrong areas and you're blowing wind into the sails for no reason, based on zero experience.

If you want an apology, the apology came when you were returned to the Club Polk gene pool. As far as the policing being sloppy, that's your opinion and I doubt you'll find many, if any, actual complaints in regards to how we protect our members and forum.

I encourage you to stay but if your so tweaked by 30 minutes of your life being a little upside down...whew, good luck man.

Suck it up dude, this is an online forum with a bunch of very passionate folks involved, more like a "community"....nobody claimed you were the evil one from the depths of hell or insulted your mother. Hell I've had my small issues here but I know it is usually just a misunderstanding....and I dealt with the issues behind the scenes not out in front of the whole forum. My screen name (Mesquitehead) is a reference to Mesquite wood, we use it to BBQ with down here in Texas, it is a purist thing and makes fajitas taste the way their supposed to just like the vaqueros did it....anyways somebody once saw only the "head" part and in short took it I was a "dope head"....we worked it out and I forgave him for his 1963 cop mentality....looking back on it it's kinda funny now. Look at it this way..if you are ever in a dire situation these guys will come to your aid with the same fervor that they muster to keep "supposed" spammers out of the forum. Think it over and if you stick around remember the search feature and the PM feature are both your friends. Either way it aint the end of the world....bueno suerte/good luck.

Kmart was also once a major presence in Canada. However, as a result of Kmart's ongoing financial difficulties, the Canadian division comprising 112 stores was sold to competitor Zellers of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1998, after which the stores were either closed or converted to the Zellers brand.
Little bit of a shock, I thought the Kmart chain was totally dead after it left Canada. The chain concept has changed dratiscally since, I don't recall Kmart ever selling audio in the days. I wonder what they are trying to achieve trying to sell products such as adcom, as far as Sears Canada there is unfortunately no trace of adcom products (unless they are hidden behind some Sears house brand name???).

    Cheers!

1st thanks for the link. Your intention is appreciated.

But on to why your post appeared to be SPAM. (here's a link about SPAM in case you don't know) Think about it. One of your 1st, if not the very first posts to this forum as a new member was to post a link to a sale about a non-polk product with a link to an external site with a header claiming SALESALESALE (when in fact its not a sale at KMart but a very low price in fact).
That is classic SPAM-pure and simple. However th eone difference here is that its not a bogus website you redirected people to, its legit. Its about the way you did it.

Think about this, in the real world, would you walk into a group of people you never met before where none of them know you and start telling them OUT OF THE BLUE that "KMart is having a SALE SALE SALE". They would likely not be very welcoming, certainly not very trusting, but instead assume you were simply a peddler trying to pass over some White Van Scam.

What you should have done, and still should do, is start a new thread and introduce yourself and your interests, what kind of gear you have or what you are trying to achieve. That's all - Don't go off half cocked about how you were beaten down and whatnot. Start over now--start a new introduction thread. :)

    Welcome to Club Polk.

By the way do you want to buy a watch? ;)
