Hi all..

I just had the absolute worst Thanksgiving weekend you could ever imagine. I'm not one to go into details, but I'd love to hear about some of your awful Thanksgiving stories. Let's bring some humor to a bad situation! Thanks,

James

The sewer system backed up in to my basement this past weekend....where I am storing all my stuff while I refinish rooms.

Yeah. Doesn't get much worse than that. Sorry, I find no humor in losing my stuff to **** water because the line in the street was backed up. All I have left of my stuff is a box frame to a bed and my stereo equipment.

Worked all my days off, behind... Enjoyed it with a bunch of web surfing in between tasks though. I'll make up for it next month with a lot of vacation. :)

We normally have Thanksgiving dinner at my grandmother's house, but this year I was told at the last minute that we were doing it at my mother's house because my grandma was sick. I called from Wal-Mart and asked if I needed to bring anything, and my mom told me that it was all covered. So I smell cooking on the day, hear them say food is ready... and all there is on the table is a turkey. No sides... Just turkey. I was pissed, but didn't know what to say, so I made a sandwich out of some of the turkey then went to a co-worker's house for food.

Friday night, I'm talking to my mom and she lets slip that there's still food at my grandma's house. I'm like "Uh, you told me they weren't doing anything there." She says "Oh, they wanted to keep it small so we weren't invited." So I ask her who went to my grandma's for Thanksgiving. As it turns out, everyone else in the family who normally goes there was there... except me, my mom, and my stepdad.

I'm still befuddled. Gotta' wonder if my mom just pissed off my grandparents or something, but I'm getting contradicting stories from my family. Needless to say, I've already made Christmas plans elsewhere. Heh...

Felt sick all weekend. Worked Thursday morning and Friday.
I did order a USB DAC. That's about the only good thing.

Wow...was expecting so much negativity, especially for this Thanksgiving. This was my worst ever, and perhaps my only bad one. So sorry that many others had a bad weekend as well.

It's not much of a story. She's just a whacko alcoholic. She had just had a surgery to remove her bellybutton the day before, so not only was she on vicondins, but was just DOWNING scotch (3/4 of my dad's thing of Dewars the night before). She was up all night in my dad's small apartment, keeping him and my stepmom up. She would go outside to smoke a cigarette every hour or so, and it would make her cough, and she would be doubled over in pain cuz coughing would hurt her surgery.

Just insane all around. My poor storytelling skills don't do it justice :)

I thought there would've been some good stories from the club here this weekend but I thought Bens' troubles was keeping it somber. Man you guys, when it rains it pours. Those stories I THOUGHT only happened to me and my family. We're all different but when it comes down to it we're really kinda the same.
We did have a good peaceful holiday here though. Just my wife and daughter.Nothing went wrong...like last year:(

    Ok...

Big meal planned by myself and my lady friend (of about a year) with two of three daughters. Everyone arrives. As the food is about to come out of the oven and with the turkey carved and waiting, an epithet flies from one of the girls that is a bit offensive to myself and the lady friend. I called the offender (my youngest daughter) aside and explained the infraction.

    *poof*

The daughter got all defensive and blamed my lady friend for my "jumping on her" (not so) and left in a huff with her husband and, since middle daughter was riding with them, she left too.

As far as I can tell, no alcohol. Just latent animosity.

My girlfriend and I sat there looking at $200 worth of a fine meal we had worked quite hard to prepare. Flabbergasted.

    Dysfunctional family thanksgiving...

    Good times.

Is that more what you guys were looking for? :p

Drove from Houston to San Antonio's Lackland AFB to take two recruits to lunch - Operation Home Cooking. Had to be at the base @ 7:30a. Left Houston @ 4:30a and returned @ 8p. Nice to help fellow servicemen celebrate Tgiving. The hassle was worth it.

**** happens. Sorry to see of everyone's difficulties over the holiday. Sucks when they occur on a normal day, compounds when it's on a holiday.:( Hope everyone can some how find a way to laugh these off soon and were still able to see the things they do have to be thankful for.
