your opinion on LSI FX dipoles?
i currently have an LSI system with LSI15s and the LSI Center being run off of an Acurus 200x3, and for surrounds i have a pair of LSI7s being run off of my AVR (HK AVR254). I'd like to move the LSI7s to the back of the room and run some dipoles for better dispersion at the sides (i would run all 4 surrounds off of the AVR). I'm just wondering what people think of that speaker? I know timbre matching is important, but is it as important for the surrounds? Also, what height are the LSI FX or any dipole supposed to be mounted?

If you're already sporting an LSi based system....why not stick to it? Get some LSiFX. How high are the LSi7 mounted? You could reuse the screws used to mount them if they're at a height you already enjoy.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I use the LSiFX along with LSi9 and a LSiC in my HT. All are on stands at the same height. Great sound.Michael

also, would i wreck the stuff by running the LSI7s AND the LSIfx speakers off of the reciever? the LSI7s are on there currently and seem fine, the lsi15s and lsic have a separate amp. I can't get a new amp right now, so hopefully it'll work out. I know the speakers are a 4 ohm load, but the HK254 doesn't even heat up very much when running the LSI7s....

Not sure about your receiver, although most people are probably running separate amplification with their LSi speakers. I run Proceed AMP5 with a Proceed AVP with no problems at all.Michael

Before you buy the Lsi/fx , get a matching amp for the surrounds.
The Lsi/fx's are incredible rear channel speakers. But they need power like the Lsi7's to perform. I'm assuming your not happy with your rear channel performance. I assume no know that you are lacking in dynamic range. So do yourself and favor and get a matching amp.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

do you think i could get by for a couple of months without the amp? i just stumbled upon a really good price for a set of used LSI/FXs, and it'd be nice to scoop em up but i would have to get the amp later. I know Harman Kardan advertises "high current" for my amp, and i would only be running the LSI7s (more like a 6 ohm speaker) and the LSIFXs off of the receiver... i never play at reference, usually around -5 to -15. -
bump for the last question

Personally, I question if you would ever need an amp for the surrounds. Since your mains and center are on a separate amp, the HK has more power to devote to the surrounds.
I don't have Lsi surrounds yet, but do run my LsiC, and three non-Lsi polk surrounds off off my Onkyo (my Lsi15s are on monoblocks) without issue and HK is a higher current receiver. -
LSif/x I have worked excellent.
My recommendation for sure.

The LSiFX are fantastic surround speakers. By all means get yourself a pair! I'm running mine off my NAD AVR & they are doing just fine. However they're the only speakers that the NAD is powering though. I've kicked the idea of getting a separate amp for them but I have my doubts if it's warranted? My center & mains have separate amplification.

The Lsi F/X speaker is a much better surround speaker. I use four of them for my rear centers and rear surrounds. I use Lsi 7 speakers for presence speakers. The 7's don't come close in depth of sound that the F/X has in my opinion. They are physically bigger than the 7's. Keep that in mind but if you have the room they are a worthwhile upgrade. They will need an amp. They are not as easy to drive as the 7's and need a 4 ohm amp to drive them properly.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
