I owned a Nissan Maxima , 2 Nissan Pathfinders and 1 Nissan Xterra. I never had any problems with any of my Nissans.
I was also a Nissan tech for years .The dealer I worked for carried Pontiac , GMC truck , Nissan , Mitsubishi. There was a ratio of 50 to 1 Nissan broke down compared to the GM products. Facts are facts. Nissan builds a better vehicle then GM.
As far as a Corvette goes , they are badass but I would own a Nissan Skyline GTR over one any day of the week and 3 times on Sunday. My opinion.

GM makes nice looking cars and Trucks. Before I owned my first Nissan , I only drove GM cars except one Lincoln Mark 7 . All of my GM products broke and had all kinds of problems. Every single person I know has GM problems. The Fords are a little better as they tend to last longer and have less problems.

Think anything you want , Facts are facts . Nissan makes a hell of a vehicle. Better quality then GM. I will say that GM is getting better and I hope for there sake they stick around. The world would not be the same without GM.

Not trying to bag on your post, But what is the ratio to GM/Nissan owners in your area? Would also love a GTR, but after you make it emissions legal would it still be worth it?

Our dealership sold more Nissans then GM. It was close with including Truck sales. On thing that stood out even more is recalls. GM had a list for every vechicle and Nissan had a few here and there. I was really impressed with that. I also switched from GM to Nissan due to what I learned working there. The icing on the cake was this traveling Lawyer. He had a Nissan Maxima with close to 300k on it. It was in fantastic shape inside and out. Even the paint was still nice. I drove it as I serviced it ( Brakes , Oil , Tires and wiper blades) and I could not believe how tight the car was. I talked to the guy and he was thinking about getting a new Maxima to replace this one but he loved that car and it never broke down on him. He practice's law in many states and traveled by car.
I decided to leave Gm and give Nissan a run. My wife got the first one which was a 1990 Nissan Maxima I purchased used. It had like 35k on it when we got it. This was I think 1993. We kept it until late summer 2000. We where going down the shore to spend the weekend. We went to the gas station to get gas , Air , washer fluid ( filling up for the trip) and I noticed the front tires where getting worn out. I asked my wife if we should get new tires or hell with it trade it in and get the Brand New Nissan Xterra she really liked. She said " lets go look at it and see". So instead of going to the Shore , we went to the dealership. First we stopped by GMC to look at the Jimmy's , I really liked those back then. She liked it but would rather the Xterra if we where going to spend the money. So off to Nissan we went and 2 hours later owners of the 2001 Nissan Xterra. We drove it and she loved it. We traded in the Maxima , got top dollar and they sold it while we where waiting for our Xterra to get detailed and Inspected.
We still own the Xterra today with 106k on it. It's never needed anything other then a battery at 95k. We keep it in the garage and maintain it. It's been a great truck and my wife still loves it.

People get all offended by Vs things due to what they like/ own or what have you. I say if you like GM then why not own them? I like Nissan and one day could own another Gm product like the new Hottness Camaro.

Not offended here. That is the exact type of thing I was looking for. I've owned a few GM's, Fords, and Chryslers. I have never owned a foreign car, but don't rip on them either. I will never own another Jesus Chrysler. Talk about cars with problems. My aunt had a late 80's reliant station wagon what a P.O.S. She took it in to get fixed, it just wasn't running right, don't remember the symptoms but but they ended up scanning the computer each time they took the car in. First thing that showed up was the alternator. They put in a new one, them was the CO2 sensor. The car was in and out of the shop something like 9 times each time with a different code in the matter of a few weeks. It ended up being the computer. Now to be fair to Chrysler, I took my '77 Nova to the same guy (he would let you make payments) I had new tires put on the back, New exhaust(from the intermediate pipe back), and the carb tuned up because it liked to throw 3' diameter fire balls out of it. I got not even a mile down the road and both rear hub caps passed me. I went back to the shop and told him about it an he said well you shouldn't drive like an idiot. I said no, you need to pay attention to what your doing. I told him he owed my for the hub caps. He kinda chuckled. Just go get the hub caps, I told him no, you can go fish them out of the ditch with a bout 2 1/2 feet of water, he knocked some off of my bill. Just as I pulled in to the driveway at home she back fires. I'm like nice. Straight back, he actually did remedy this. About a week later the exhaust falls off. I took it back and told them about the issue. I knew the guy that was working at the time, he pulled it in, and I went back with him. He said "yup, It fell off" as we had it in the air. Looked at it told me they would have to order parts for it, but he could string it up. He grabed a coat hanger(no big deal) wrapped it around the pipe, then to the drive shaft, I told him that's not even going to hold to my house(he lived down the roar from me). He insisted it would be fine I said ok. I was right. Need less to say I never payed my bill, he was also out of business about 4 months later. Just saying if you are going to have a car repaired unless you know a good mechanic, take it to the dealer ship for service. Still have had many stupid little problems with Chrysler's that I have owned. I had a shadow with a manual transmission that would idle at 60mph in fifth gear.
I think the funnest vehicle I have owned was my '77 Nova, My 98 Bronco II 4WD, and My 4WD Ranger. That ranger was a trip, Pulled a few 3/4 ton chevys out of the sand with it, and I was in the same sand they were in. A friend of mine though he would be funny and butt his front bumper up to my brush guard and try to push me backwards, I pushed the 4 low button, and put it in to low gear and all I saw was smoke pouring off of all 4 wheels of the chevy as my little ranger pushed him backwards.

Ok really far off topic. My point was every one I know that has had a Chrysler(with the exception of my wife) has had nothing but issues with them(Hers was a rebaged Mitsubishi)

Nissan makes good engines, but the associated electronics seem to suffer a bit. Honda also makes good engines but their Acura line has had it's share of problems, can't figure that one out. Gm...crap,my aunt bought a new escalade, not a cheap car,the first week, the door handles fell off. If you can't keep the friggin' door handles on,on a new car,the rest of that vehicle is suspect.

I have a 14 year old Lexus and a 12 year old Honda, never had a problem with either and as a matter of fact, the Lexus still has alot of original stuff on it.I think that was when Lexus was still making all of them overseas still. Quality has suffered a bit when they started making them here. Tell ya something. The best part was not having a car payment for alot of years. American cars used to be good quality, now when the warranty runs out,so does the car. They seem to want you buying a new car every 5 years so you constantly have a car payment. Think about saving an extra 3,4, even 500 hundies a month without a car payment. How many of you have parents with an old round top refrigerator in the basement ? A 40 maybe 50 year old appliance that still kicking, made in the USA. Once you build a reputation on quality, durability, you have a solid customer base. Honda and Toyota have kicked our **** in those area's for years and now GM is just starting to get the message. No GM products will ever grace my driveway again, unless it's an older muscle car.

    The Maxima is a 2000 model .

there ya go, that gen of Maxima's had problems. lots of em. Funny you mentioned CV joints first, as that was the usual big ticket item that went...and always after the warranty. that gen of Maxima's is to be avoided at all costs.

other than that, pick any brand, break it in right and drive it right/care for it, and it will most likely take care of you.

I've owned GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Volvo, Jeep........all treated me well because I treated the cars well.

Thank you. In my opinion, liking or hating cars based on country doesn't make any sense. Sure, there are great Japanese cars, but there are also some that don't work very well or last long. Then there are good and bad American cars. Same thing goes for the German cars, etc.
