I have had 4 resections in the last 5 years and believe me when I say you really need to be up walking around. Don't push it but do get your butt out of bed. Watch for infections very closely too. I ended up spending a year in the friggen hospital on TPN trying to get the system working right. Don't push the solid food, it will come soon enough. You have to let that anastomosis heal.
You do not want to go through this more than once.
Good Luck & get well soon

Been up and moving for a bit. Even at 3am... Though just to pee... But I ain't got much better to do than post about it right now. I can't wait for some solid food, but I will. I saw , for a breif second yesterday, the inscision. Not too long, maybe 4 or 5 inches? Maybe not. But the doc said there was infection when they were operating so they didn't close me up "as tight as they normally would" so there was staples fairly far apart and gauze between the cut sides. It was... Hard for me to look at. But the idea of doing anything that would mean having to open that area back up really freaked me out.
So I only take one pain pill when they offer two, so I know if I'm pushing myself too hard or pulling on something, etc, etc.
Judging by everyone elses non-chalant treatment of this in the hospital, I wonder why I'm hospitalized at all, though. I mean, to me, I have a fresh cut through fat and muscle that they pulled a few yards of my guts through. Then they found a bit that was being a bit of an ****, cut it out, rejoined the nice parts to the nice parts and shoved everything back into me, stapling me up like a tidy craft project.
To everyone in this joint, you'd think I'd had a teeth cleaning. I mean, the nurses are nice, but they kinda treat me like, "Well, you walk and talk; why are you still here?" like I have a choice. Frustrating. I don't even ask for anything.
And no word on recovery time either. I went ahead and started the paperwork for short-term disability at work, but I wonder if I'll qualify or not. Again, frustrating. These are the things you worry about when they wake you at 3am for your pain meds, right before your pain meds kick in... Then it's all funny faces, rainbows in the shadows and smiles you can't stop. See you in the morning guys.

Drink walk pee,,then do it over again,, sounds crazy bit it will get you outta there,, good luck with a speedy recovery,,LOL,, the reason that everyone is so casual about your procedure is because it ain't them,,definately a procedure that one would at least raise an eyebrow over,, but you need to concentrate on the healing process,,so drink,, walk,, pee,,,sincerely wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hey guys... They sent me home last night. I still have a restricted diet, can't drive for awhile and I can't lift pretty much anything. Also, when I eat, I can only eat a little at a time because I swear I can feel the staples pulling on my expanding gut... And I get pretty full pretty fast... Just in time for the Holidays!
Anyway, I go to back to the doc to get my staples pulled Dec. 4th and can get back to work on the 7th if everything goes well.
It seems like a really long time to be out of work, especially since I have what can be called a desk job. But the doc told me even without lifting and walking I'm going to be dog-****$ tired most of the time from just doing nothing.

Also, because I'm on short-term disability, I cant do anything close to my job... Since I am an Art Director, I can't design anymore tshirts for the Hitmaster contest, supposedly. So some of you more artistic types out there get to work!

    Thanks for all your support!
