Just curious as to what people on the forum like in terms of connections. I'm currently using bananas but picked up some MIT cables that the ends can be switched out so curious as to if people feel spades are a better connection.

    Sup Chris!

    Banana's for easy connect/disconnect.

Do your MITs have the iconn connect termination? Otherwise I've got a whole set of bananas and spades left over in my box of stuff.

Nanners. They can't come loose and short like spades can.

They do have the iconn ends. I was tempted to pick up some spades to try them out seeing I've only been using bananas, but didn't feel like paying the extra money for them if I would end up not even using them.

bananas.. but I think you get what you pay for. The cheap ones have cheap banana ends.I know that.

I've read the locking ones are the best to use

Ok, I'm just tempted to try them out to see if I like them over the bananas. I do like my MIT cables, the only problem I have right now is my stupid mono blocks have the connections about 12 inches apart soo the cable doesn't split far enough to to use on the amp end and I don't feel like pulling them apart and redoing it as I just got them, oh well, I'm just going to use them for the center for now, love them though, think I'll be picking some more up soon!

Bare wire has a lot of disadvantages. Copper wire oxidizes over time when it's exposed to oxygen, which will degrade the signal over time.

With a properly terminated cable, the copper wire will be sealed off, so no oxygen will be coming directly in contact with it.

Personally, I use bananas all around. I've never tried spades.

Nanners make speaker swapping a piece of cake.

Curt do you have any idea how long it takes copper to oxidize, in an indoor invironment with low moisture levels it would take nearly 10 yrs. Now if it were in a garage with lots of temp changes and higher moisture levels it could be less than a year.

Which ever brand, look for organic. I know studies say that you don't have to worry about it with bananas but I think the additives and genetic modification takes away from the natural properties and can be down right dangerous in the long term-inal.

Man I am going organic as possible. The price is prohibitive sometimes, but that just means I need to grow more. I have way too many health issues to not go all natural. I have my two little sweethearts 4 and 6. I am getting the 6 YO to eat what we grow. It is an awesome bonding time, and she gains interests in veggies we grow. So, you're saying that replacing your wire every 10 years is better than simply terminating them properly and never having to replace them again?

When I got the GLS nanners for my 2 channel rig, I A/B'd them with bare wire. I had a pair of speaker cables that were bare, and a pair of the exact same cable terminated in the nanners. I heard absolutely no difference.

I think bare wire has enough disadvantages to more than negate the theoretical minute loss of signal quality that you get from the termination.

Also, bare wire has the chance of getting loose strands crossed. This can cause damage to speakers and amps...with terminations this is much less likely.

Its kinda funny though for me here in WI our organic bananas acutally cost less than regular bananas at this one store I go to. I just wish my apartment would let me grow stuff outside as then I would do my own but for now I just gotta settle for our co-op.

Tin your bare wire with silver solder if you want to use straight wire. Silver conducts better than copper when exposed to the elements. Also there are no stray strands to short your amp.
