Hello

They gave the new release date today, March 9, 2010. Theres also a "special announcement" video on xbox live. Have had copies preordered for along time for both consoles.

My wife's going to play it on the psx3 thats hooked up to our 42" Panasonic. I"m on the 360 in the gaming room playing it on the 26" Toshiba. Hmmmm whats wrong with this picture:)

Been playing FF since FFII on the SNES, still think that was the best one....

That game was fun for about an hour.

Im still remaining cautiously neutral on FFXIII.

FF7 was the best one in my mind. The early ones were good but FF7 was a perfect combo of story, game design, difficulty... just a great great game.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

FF6 and FF12 are my favorites by a large margin.. played/finished/enjoyed all of them though. To each his own.

I played the Japanese Demo of FFXIII last night, its bundled with the blu-ray version of Advent Children. I didn't do too bad, was able to figure out which menu bar was attack, healing, and magic. My partners kept me healed in the battle pretty much all the time so really was no worries about dieing anyway.

Me and my wife use to comment years ago that some day, game-play was going to mimic the FMV....here it is. Pretty much blows away the graphics in any game I've seen to date, especially the character animations and details.

FF7 by far the best imo.

As for the earlier versions such as FF and FFII (on NES), they were years ahead of what was out during that time. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed M.T.'s Punch-Out and Excite Bike just as much.

Can't wait to see what the new one brings to the table.

Played through all of them up through FF10.

I had to import one years ago for the NES and then they rereleased the originals of a couple with re-vamped graphics on the DS not too long ago (with the "real" release numbers) and I have worked through them as well.

I bought a PSP for Gran Turismo, but I purchased FF7 before I did that even.
So I've beaten that for the 11th time as well.

I may or may not get this one, though. First, I have to have a job. But besides that, I'm also disappointed with SquareEnix as of late. They have a lot of flash and a littel substance. And with these long, long titles, there has to be a sense of character inclusion and cohesive plot. Even sandbox games allow you to get back "to the point", and Square has missed that, IMO.

3 weeks away.... where is everyone pre-ordering from? I've got Amazon right now, full price $59.99 but you get a $10 off future video game order, and since I'm on a free Prime Trial, I also get guaranteed release date delivery for free as well. Just sucks that between now and the end of March I'm going to be swamped at work.

We got ours coming from Gamestop, both ps3 and 360 versions, read first post:)

If you have the shipping overnight, only $9, supposedly you'll get it the day of release..

I wonder if the differences between the versions will be noticable...

360 has audio/video compression, PS3 does not. Compression level wasn't given though.... it might be very mild.

And supposedly the Xbox 360 version runs at 576p, as opposed to the PlayStation 3 running at 720p. That is unconfirmed. Doesn't really matter -- both versions look good!

From comparisons I've seen so far, both render at 720p. Also, the 360 version's cutscenes aren't as good as the PS3's (likely due to compression), but the 360 supposedly doesn't have as many framerate issues as the PS3 during the actual gameplay. Go figure.

Heres a great article I found this morning comparing the two....

Took some pictures of my copy. There are 3 discs for the XBox 360 version, not 4.

    demiff13-a.jpg

Unless Square Enix and Microsoft are lying (which is very possible), the Final Fantasy XIII media is in 720p/1080i/1080p, and will display at either of the three depending on what your monitor is capable of. I read the Eurogamer article and I'll **** on that until I actually see it with my own two eyes through my 1080p projector.

    demiff13-b.jpg

The Final Fantasy series has always been about the story and gameplay for me, but I am also a big fan of graphics. If I can get all three, awesome, if not...oh well.

The 360 scales to those resolutions. That doesn't mean that the game is actually rendering at that resolution. For instance, Halo 3 looks so crappy because it renders at lower than 720p, then the 360's GPU scales that to HD resolutions. The box for Halo 3 says the same thing as FFXIII. That's not uncommon practice for 360 games.

Looks amazing with the 120" picture I have going right now. The cut scenes are very well done...just goes to show how far graphics have come.

Anyways, I have only played about 1 1/2 hours so far (going to probably take my time with this one) and Vanille is by far my favorite character in the game. She was annoying at first, but as soon you could control her movement things got good. Maybe I just like the weapon she uses....that thing is badass.

So far love this one. I was old school Final Fantasy, but haven't paid much attention to the series for some time now so maybe I'm more impressed since it's been so while since I have played a game in this franchise.

Looks amazing on my Samsung 46B6000. Played about two hours worth last night. Why does every girl look so good? lol

It seems VERY linear right now, so the game play is mainly reading and hitting the X button a lot.

Well that, and it looks better on the PS3. It's not scaled to 720p like the 360 is.

So hows everybody doing? I'm just starting chapter 3, haven't had too much time to play it. Trying to get my tax info ready...

Man, alot going on, on the screen at times...kinda hard to follow what my team is doing, pretty fast paced. I'm used to controling everybody too, am getting the hang of it I guess...not minding the linearity so far.

My wife is really enjoying it, I do think it looks better on the ps3 alright, our setups are in my first post...
