Are you sure of that?

Anyway, are you saying that that Lsi 9's are more difficult to drive overall?MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

Yep, I measured them both a few months ago."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I wonder if the guys who recommend 9s over 15s would mind giving a reason? (Or several.)
I ask because I have 9s and am constantly tempted to pluck a couple of 15s off the Polk Direct site. I'd like to be talked out of this for the obviou$ rea$on$. -
To me, the 9's represent a more accurate representation of the spectrum. They image better and do not exhibit the slowness, boom or muddiness that the LSi15 does. It's just a more musical speaker IMO.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Ah, thank you---just what I was hoping for.
My 9s are just a bit boomy at times; I thought 15s might be an improvement. -

I haven't noticed any "Boominess" (is that a word) with the LSi-15's, I have found that speaker placement can be a little tricky, especially in a less than perfect room, which may have to do with the side fireing woofer.
When listening to the 15's in two channel, I don't use a sub, and the low end is accurate and clean.
I found the imaging on the 15's to be quite good although small changes in speaker placement (distance from walls, toe-in, or toe-out) can significantly change the soundstage and imaging.............so if you like to tinker....
I listen to many genre's of music, but feel the Lsi's sound best with, female pop, country, and jazz.....worst with, that screaming type of hardcore noise my son listens to.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for offer to assist.
The 9s sound great about 99% of the time. Boominess happens on only a handful of CDs, mostly string quartets, mostly recorded in the 80s, so maybe they weren't well recorded to begin with. Boominess more pronounced on playback via Oppo 83 than on Cambridge 640C. The other gear is Emo xpa-5 (contemplating upgrade to Wyred 4 Sound ST 500) and USP-1. HP Crossover set at 60 hz; LP at 80 (with caveat the USP-1 affords only very approximate control over these settings). The speakers are at right angles to the wall, 6.5 feet apart and a foot away. I experimented and found right angle offered best imaging.
Cables are all from Blue Jeans; I intend to invest in Signal cable bi wire at some point.
I shall be interested in any and all suggestions for improvement, but I repeat the boominess is really pretty minor. -
For music? the Polk LSi15.:)
My settings to use bi-wiring: HF "Oxygen-free copper / Oxygen-free high thermal conductivity"
