Trouble with Display on XRT12

Okay, going to try and explain this as best I can. I have a Polk Xrt12 in my rack connected to a Denon AVR-3805. It's been working great for probably 5 years now, with one exception, the display. I've noticed in the past when I sprayed this display with windex or other cleaner, it would make the entire display light up blue when powered up, rather than the normal text you would see. It normally would disappear after a few hours, leading me to believe that the liquid was somehow getting in around the edges, causing a connection short of some kind with the display. Then, 4 weeks ago it started happening all the time. To be honest, no one but me is bothered by this as it's mostly used from behind a closed cabinet with an IR remote and the on-screen display is unaffected.

However, today when I cleaned it (always do this with the power off), and then turned it on immediately after, it worked fine, and I swore to myself I'd never clean it again with anything but a dry cloth. However, my luck only lasted 5 minutes, and now it's back to it's solid blue look. Can I do anything to address this. Not really worth it to me to pull the cabinet away from the wall to send it in for service, if Polk will even accept it at this time. As the power cord does not unplug from the unit, removing it would be a nightmare in and of itself, and may force me to leave as is.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Ted,

It appears that the display is failing on the XRT 12. One quick note to be aware of is when cleaning electronics display like the XRT 12, you never should spray windex directly onto the display, you should only spray windex onto a paper towel then wipe the display clean. With that mentioned you may send in the XRT 12 to our factory service center for a free estimate for the cost of repair. if you have any further questions feel free and email me @ KShufelt@polkaudio.com

    Kyle,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, its in a rack of equipment in a piece of furniture that weighs about 250lbs without the 200+lbs of gear, so moving it away from the wall to get access to the power cord is tough. Combine that with the fact that 99% of the time I use on screen menus through my tv, and it's probably not worth the headache of sending it in for repair.

Having said that, I did notice one odd thing. If I cut the power to the outlet for 5 minutes, and then turn the unit on, it works fine. That is until I turn the unit off and turn it back on again, and then it goes all blue again? Any thoughts on maybe something I can try on my end??

    Thanks.

As you describe the problem that is definetly a circuit that handles the display has failed.
