There are lots of "second-class citizens," they just shouldn't be labeled such SOLELY on things like religious beliefs. Whether those beliefs should subject them to a little more scrutiny is a whole other matter.

Nothing personal at all. Like I said, I appreciate your service and respect your right to say whatever the hell you want. My father is from Iran and was a practicing Muslim (until he converted to Catholicicsm) and I have many relatives who are Muslim and practice their faith properly. That's why I am emotional as well. When people use those terms so broadly, it strikes a nerve. It's not about being PC in my eyes.

Muslims who are good people, and there are many, are simply bad Muslims. They're NOT properly practicing their faith.

Read the freakin' Qur'an, it is NOT condusive to a "free" nation (In quotes, because our freedom is limited in the interest of a civil society. Otherwise you have anarchy) like we have here.

The unfortunate thing is that it seems (from my initial read of the news reports) that this guy is using his religion and conversion to that religion as a means to justify his actions. I don't think it was anything to do with "true belief" and being a "faithful" muslim that led to his actions. If I remember right the military has procedures that take into account faith and conscientiuous objections to war? I think he was just a coward looking for a good excuse for his actions.

Same could be said for every religion out there. Wars have been waged from the dawn of time by trying to prove that one religion is superior to the other. How many Muslims do you know? I know hundreds of practicing Muslims and every one of them loves peace and freedom as much as I do. Your comments could be applied to Christianity as practiced in the dark ages as well.
