I am looking for some fixtures that will allow me to control my lights manually and wirelessly with my logitech remote. Does anyone knwo of a good one? I would only be using the wireless feature for movies.

Look at Lutron IR remote controlled dimmers. These replace your wall switch that controls the ceiling mounted light fixture. My Logitech Harmony One controls this dimmer very well.

+1 on the Lutrons. I have the Spacer system in my HT/party basement with a master switch controlling 3 light circuits. ...all controlled by my harmony remote. figure out exactly what model numbers you need and then you can usually find NIB off ebay for much less than retail.

You want the IR Lutron Spacer System. Add up the wattage of bulbs used and buy the dimmer that can handle the load. I.E 100w bulb+100w bulb+ 50w wall scounce = 250w so you would buy the 600w dimmer. The Spacer also allows 4 scenes as well. If you just want wireless dimmer then check out the IR Maestro dimmer sold at Home Depot.

The scenes are what make you look smooth when the ladies are over. Be creative with the scenes, you have 4 of them. (IRL I only use 2 scenes.... "movie" and "regular". But it is nice to have that movie button on the Harmony once you get the Blu-ray in and all settled in the chair.

I have not installed any dimmers, but have read they introduce noise into the AC circuit, which can degrade audio/video quality.

This can be minimized by putting all of your lights on a separate circuit than your outlets. I get about 9% THD in my power (I'm talking 60hz AC power here... not THD from my amp) throughout my house which can be attributed to anything plugged in that has a DC converter on it, refrigerators, light dimmers etc. 9% is a little high, but not terrible. My 2-channel system plugged into a APC H10 power conditioner is dead silent. My HT through a Monster filter (can't remember product number) is very quiet. I can't notice any difference in sound or noise floor with the lights on or off.

Wow you guys get into that stuff way more than I do. I do not think I will have any problems. Now there are a lot of different controls on that site some include remotes others don't what should I be looking for? My light wattage will be 240 from the lights.

The Spacer System dimmer that you would need is the SPS-600M-WH. If you want the master switch that can be used to program scenes, you also need. SPS-5WC-WH. You don't have to order the remote if you are going to use a harmony remote to control the switches. All of the codes will load into the remote when you add the lighting devices on the web interface.

If you are going to be fancy and wire it as a 3-way switch you also need SPS-AD-WH for the other switch. You can't just use a regular 3-way switch.

So what do you mean by set it for scenes do you mean like one mode for movies and one for music and so on?

So I need both the SPS-600M-WH and the SPS-5WC-WH? I only have one spot for the switch.

Yes you can set it for full on, scene 1 (half dim), 3/4 the way dim (movies), full off.

I suggest this website as it has everything you need. The Harmony remote works perfectly with the Lutrons as well.

As mentioned u want the 600w capacity dimmer w single pole configuration. Dont forget to add matching faceplate

    Hi all,
I currently have two SPS-600 and one SPS-1000 in a three gang box.
Works great but I'm having some problems programming the scenes with my Harmony One remote. Downloaded the Lutron Spacer s/w for the remote from Logitech website and now have scenes 1 to 4 on the touch screen. But, how do I program them to different lighting levels?
When I press them I get 100/75/50/10 % light levels.
I know the Lutron remote needs keeping the button pressed for 3-4 secs until the light flashes to program a scene level. How do you re-program different lighting levels for the 4 scenes using the Harmony One?
    Thanks.
    Don
