Best connection method for original Xbox?

Hey everyone.

I just recently dug out my original Xbox. I haven't played it in quite a while, so I figured I'd hook it up. The cables I've got for them are just standard composite video/stereo RCA cables.

Is there much of a benefit to be had by hooking the audio up with an optical cable? I can't take advantage of HD video quite yet, because my TV's from the stone age.

I was looking at this one...

Should I pick one up, or is it not worth it?

Is there a better cable I should look at? I see that Monster has an optical cable for Xbox...

If your tv has component , yes buy the cables. If you have a surround system with optical in , yes buy the cables. This is the best way to use the Xbox. It's a good machine when it works. It sounds and looks good. When I used mine I felt the 360 was really not needed.

I still have mine underneath my bed. I whip it out once in a while. As far as Monster or others, they all perform about the same so whatever you can get a good deal on is fine. Monster game cable are built very well.

I bought a monoprice cable with the fancy connect and it keeps slipping out but same boat . I have the original xb360 and try'd it with L/R through the onkyo607 and it really sucked for highdef movies and mp3 then bought the optic cable and there is a 70% improvement for sure

Movies ,games and mp3 sound great

def hook up using optical as the xbox ( with exception to few very old games) are dolby digital. Now what quality of cable you use will always be up for debate ;)

    Thanks for the advice.

My TV currently only has a composite input, so I won't need the component video cables yet, but it'll be nice to have them when I upgrade the TV.

I'll go ahead and grab one of these cables sometime soon.
