I've been using tributaries cables between the preamp and amp for a few years.these cales are identified....a2 tributaries silver connect audio cable...they cost me $200.00 for the pair and are 6 feet long. I swaped in a pair of cheap brand x cables with the result being less detail, less brightness, less edgy.hate to say that i like them more, as i prefer a laid back duller sound.

It's the silver.................try a comparable pair of copper I/C's (comparable to the tributaries that is). If you still like the "generic" cables you just bought, then you just saved yourself some money and treat you and a significant other to dinner.

A nice budget pair to try would be Signal Cable Analog II's. If you don;t like them you could flip them here for no loss.

I also tried a pair or tributaries (subwoofer cables) I had laying around and they sounded in between the silvers and the generic cables.Just having some fun experimenting and thought I'd share it.Between all 3 pairs it's not a huge difference though, just a little cost free tweaking.

In the end it IS the subtle differences that seem to matter over time. Keep experimenting that's what this hobby is all about.
