Assassin's Creed II

If you liked the first one (loved it!), this one is gonna be even better. The kill animations are awesome, along with all the new weapons, and characters who are after you.

They put in the ability to steal weapons in this game from your opponents as well as an escape mechanism from any fight.
Assassin's Creed II takes place in an open world with nonlinear gameplay, allowing the player to free roam the city and buy weapons which the character buys from vendors at will. Also available is colored dye to change the color of the player-character's outfit. An article published in Game Informer reveals that Assassin's Creed II will grant the player the ability to swim and use the canals of Venice as hiding spots and will allow the player to drag city guards into the water as a means of assassination. At E3 2009, it was also confirmed by the creative director that Ezio (the character that the player assumes control of during gameplay) will be able to "drive small boats." A young Leonardo da Vinci is recreated within the game, as an aid to the player who provides a host of weapons and contraptions available for use. At one point in the game, the player can access Leonardo's flying machine which he actually built, keeping airborne using thermals from fires lit by friends gathered previously in the game. The game will also feature a host of new mission types for the player to complete.

Yeah, there was never a doubt in my mind about buying this game after having beaten the 1st one.

The sheer amount of free-ranging landscape is amazing, and the detail given to the AI is so fun to play.

Not really. It's a VERY engrossing game, and very fun. But it's the type of game that you can stop and restart any time you want, it's very fluid.

It's "mission" based and follows a story line that you can do in any order. I'm assuming that didn't change at all. I spent a lot of time playing it, but not a lot of time at once.

Yes, I would say that's accurate. It's set in the past, but it has a connection to the future. It's hard to explain.

Anyways, you should get an XBox 360 and join the rest of us playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare. There's a group of us from here that play quite a bit.

Hrmmm... i would, but FPS on consoles confuse and infuriate me. I'm a bit too old school for that. I NEED a keyboard and mouse, otherwise 3-year-olds have no problems mopping the floor with me, no matter how much i practice.

I'll probably end up getting both Xbawks 360 and PS3, though.

Though at the moment, i'm still having fun rocking GT4 on PS2, running a tournament against the car geeks at GRM. :)

The whole 'FPS aren't any good on consoles' argument has been bunk for a while now so you should at least give it a shot before you buy. I'm not saying a PC isn't better for it, because it is, but when is the last time you've tried playing one on a console?

They've come a long way, and I dare say that it's a more enjoyable experience.

I'm not saying that they're crap, merely that i don't have the skills to be any good at them using two joysticks. ;) I simply don't have the motor skills necessary to navigate and aim using my thumbs. :(

I used to play a lot of Halo despite that, also played Gears of War, and i was dismal at both.

Yeah, I know you didn't, but there are people who will come here getting all angry about the idea of FPS games being played on a console.

I'm old school too, but I go back and forth. I just prefer this series on the latest consoles. :)

Anyways, back to Asassin's Creed II. :D

Unfortunately I don't get angry at people playing FPS games on consoles, I just get confused.

Assassin's Creed should be a great game!

i was 8bit nintendo junkie, snes and then playstation 1. then graduated to pc. then tried to revert back to joysticks with xbox 1. didn't fare so well until i played halo 1. then xbox 360 came out and i'll probably never go back to keyboards again, though i got a bomb-**** water-cooled 1-7 computer i built with 28" monitor. it only sees internet duty anymore.

added, and yes, it did take me awhile to get used to controllers again. don't give up just because you suck at a perticular game. i REALLY had to force myself to not give up on the first xbox. then it finally happened.

as for assassin's creed...i think i'll pass for now. what i find i STILL suck at is going from a shooter to an adventure type of game and then back. controls back and forth between the type genres kill my accuracy.

Always takes me awhile to get back into a game once I haven't played for a few days or more, or when I've played other games in between.

I tried to explain that to my wife that that was why I needed to keep playing through the night, day in and day out until I finished it, cause stopping completely slows the game completion process down and I don't want to add extra days to the game time ya know. For her sake.

    She doesn't buy it. :o

I was a big FPS on PC gamer way back when--Whe I first got my XBox and played my Nephew on Halo, he mopped the floor with my blood--I was simply shocked and amazed--took me so long to get the controls down--but once I got the hang of them, I can play almost any game now with ease. Just takes some practice and getting comfortable with the controller. Of course that will never happen if you avoid it altogether. ;)

I could walk around AC for about 2 hours... which is about how long I could play it too. The world was AMAZING but the gameplay wasn't that great. The sequel looks like it adds a lot more stuff to do. I'm excited for it.

This game is awesome. I'd say that if you didn't like the first one, however, you will not like this one. I have found that this franchise has a love it or hate it thing going on with it. I love it and It's certainly an upgrade over the last, but much of the way of how the story is executed (no pun intended) is the same. Lots of climbing and running around. I'd say the game is a bit harder, too.

They did a great job integrating teaching you how to play your character into the story itself. The new weapons and assassination techniques never get old.

One thing I found annoying was that when you die after a cut scene you have to sit through the cut scene again. That can get pretty damn frustrating if the task you have to complete is particularly hard and/or the cut scene is really long. I really think that they should have put an option in to skip, but perhaps they didn't add one on purpose.

At this point it's clear to me that there will be an Assassin's Creed III, and that's a good thing.
