Apon pondering what hifi to buy for my new house once esablished here in mexico city I stumble'd across a high end stereo shop not that far from where i lived, long story short tested some speakers quiet liked the polk lsi9s....quick call to the UK to confirm with my Dad, got the go ahead......back home to set them up with my existing system arcam 8/r cd/amp....not enough power to drive them so purchased a monster power amp 2250 signature everything fine 3 years later one driver serial MW5534 is blown but looks perfect I cant work it ? let me point out the this is not from driving them like a nutter or heavy use!! I tried to take it back to the shop but they were not there anymore arrrhhh...also I noticed the the driver had a sticker on it dating it back to the end of 2003 so he must of had them for a year or two before selling them, but they were brand new when I got them, paid about $300 US more than retail because of Mexican import taxes......what am I going......someone please help.......I know were's my dad i'll kill him!!.....

Agreed, give Polk CS a ring, they are second to none. They also often screen the forum for posts like this and are quick to reply. I would try this first before digging deeper. Welcome to Club Polk.

Below is an old link about some one else blowing the same driver. May be helpful info in some threads posted there for you. Just enter 'MW5534' in the search box to pull up a few links. 4 threads appeared when I searched.

You should have a 5 year warranty from the date of purchase. But the real question is: What are you doing in Mexico City? Its dangerous down there brother! I used to work for the CFE.

I have a pair of LSi9's and love 'em.

Good luck and welcome to Club Polk.
