I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I know all about it. I really like it. I guess one thing about Mac's is they stay running exactly like when they are new. When you get a Windows PC , they seem to run great when you first get them. Then over time they seem to slow down until they completely stop. All my Mac's run as fast as the day I got them.
We have the 24 inch Aluminum Imac when they first came out. It's still a awesome machine with flawless workings. It's great to own Mac.
I would love to get one of these. I am however replacing our mighty wireless mouse for the new Magic mouse. Can't wait to play with that. Seems to work like my Macbook Pro which is only 1 year old this month. It's got the buttonless scroll pad out of glass. It's awesome.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
it is pretty. Will eventualy own a mac one day
-
...and here I was thinking we'd maybe make it a whole Mac thread without the tired "Mac is better" comment, guess I was wrong.

This week actually I am going to get Windows 7 Professional upgrade, been very happy with WIN7 RC. Anyone has plug?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Ew...Macs...
I'm a double-clicker 4 LIFE!
Seriously though, I've tried to like Macs, but they're too damn simple for me. On a side note to polkatese, I've been using Win7 RC since it came out, and i'm real impressed with it."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. ROFL, I love how mad people get about a quality product. Apple makes great stuff. Equally amusing are the Apple Fan Boys who act like everything else sucks and has no value.
A lot of Mac users are idiots, no doubt about that. Then again, so are a lot of PC users, the difference being Macs are pretty much idiot proof. -

Yeah. I'd rock this in my kitchen. Probably wouldn't use it for anything else, though.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I'm a screw it together kind of guy. Other that a couple of laptops
I just bought cheap and rehabed, all the pc's I've ever had were
homebrew. MAC is a "write a check" system. Not much to
upgrade, and repairs are not easy. I am not a big windows fan,
But even less of a "use our hardware or else" fan.
I really need to jump into the Linux thing. It's a shame the MAC OS
isn't meant for other hardware. My son coverted the wife's machine
to Linux. I really haven't had the time to sit down and figure out all the
nuts and bolts of it yet. I have open office running on a spare laptop.
That I really like. And the price is right!
I give MAC users a hard time, but WIN_TEL stuff is starting to drive me
crazy. The work machine with all the new forced IS add-ons has slowed to a crawl."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. You can always use terminal on a Mac if you like to use any *unix systems. OS X is simply a graphical base built on Free BSD. Which is why it's so stable, in my opinion. Windows has come a long way, but the original os was meant for a personal computer, not a network enabled machine. Because of that, it is more open to network gliches/backdoors/compromises than most well-setup *unix systems.
BTW- the reason I say "*unix" is because Linux is all over the place. THere are many moduals and separate kernels out there but they are all based around a similar programing as UNIX, which is the **** for computer OS's if you like command-line. Linux, over the past 10 years has really stepped up the game, though, by proving a great GUI.
My favorite GUI, in the case of *unix-based OS's happens to be Mac OS X.
It is simple, yes. And while it is tethered to it's hardware, the hardware is beast, so I don't mind. One of the reasons that Mac's are so friendly and are known for better dependability, if anyone is actually still reading, is that they have quality control to make sure that the brand isn't tarnished. Which is why everyone and their brother likes to point out when they F up. With PC's manufacturers will grab the latest greatest and slap it into a machine without any real checks and balances. By 'latest and greatest' I mean the cheapest components they can find. The factory that produced this particular piece this week was producing something completely unrelated last week, and next week, they will be out of the tech business and into the food industry, so it's cheap to buy these parts wholesale and slap them in a box with other components that are purchased the same way. And the savings are passed on to you... As are all the gliches that might appear and failings that could happen.
Apple farms out their needs, rarely purchasing pre-existing parts that may be prone to failure. It means that they are more expensive. To be fair, maybe not as expensive as Apple let's on, but expensive none-the-less.
All that to say that if you want a great PC that can work as well for as long and with the same reliability and performance as a modern Mac, you will have to either hand pick your parts from reliable sources, build it yourself and hope that the lot that you grabbed your components from aren't some ****-lot pick-ups, or you'll spend as much on your top-of-the-line PC as you would on a Mac.
Then you have to worry about virus's and trojans and other malware.
Now I'm not saying that Macs aren't prone to this, and any Apple-fan-boy who thinks their Apple is immune to attacks, you are wrong. But you are a much larger target when 99% of all malware is directed at the type of computer you use and the OS that you are running, in this case Windows.
It's actually the exclusivity of the Apple community (through price and being "too simple"), as well as the fact that the OS is based on an OS that was networked 40 years ago and has many fail safes installed in it's core that has kept Macs safer online... Mostly the exclusivity, though.
And you can upgrade them. Really. It's not easy. But if you think a computer is too simple for you, but too complicated to upgrade, well.... That doesn't make much sense.
So which do I think is better? Mac, obviously, if you have the money. You can build an awesome PC, you can install linux on it, and you can have a great machine. With enough time and money, you can write a check to a high-end PC manufacturer and pay a lot for anti-virus/anti-malware protection and have a positive PC experience. You could, through blind luck, buy a cheap system and have little to no problems; lot's of people do the latter and are fine.
Me? Well, I'll sink money into a new Apple every 4 to 5 years and not worry about it. If I need to feel l33t, I'll use the Terminal and Command Line.
