All with phono stages. The PV5 is a tad high because you can score PV12's without a phono stage for around $800
Ok they all have my interest, which one not based on price? That PV5 looks sharp, the PV4 got me thinking due to being serviced.

Factory serviced.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

You can't go wrong with the PV4 being FACTORY serviced. The PV5 is a step above but not far from the PV4 in tonality and overall performance. Roll some clear top RCA's or EI Gold 12AU7's and I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with the introduction into a tubed preamp. The PV 8 is in delivered condition and NOT serviced since new. But the upgrades and service from Bill Thalman or CJ is rather cheap. Throw a dart and see what happens.Testing

I didn't care for the Dodd MLP.
Must have been synergy or some **** that wasn't in sync? Or was it the Fred Flintstone look that detracted you from it? Oh, do tell....never mind. To each his own.
Carry on....good luck bro'.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
-
George if you'd like to give a CJ preamp a try I may be able to loan you one while I'm out of the country for a few months. We'll see how the logistics work out soon.Testing

"Hi Steve - Thanks for the offer, wish it had come a week earlier. I just sold this. Thanks"

Ted, call it synergy, call it bad ears.....the MPL just didn't do it for me.
Now, not everything is lost for me; I'm right now sweetening my ears with a BAT premp, and I think it will stay for a while._________________________________________________

Ok the PV-5 pre amp. I can get it for $650 + shipping, He was asking for $710 + shipping. Is this fair, or should I skip it? My offer was $650 shipped, shipping should be around $23 or so, he counter offer.

Ok so if the...
PV-4 was $400.00
PV-8 was $665.00
PV-5 was $710.00
Then I thinking the PV-5 should be around $640 or so? I can get it for $650 + shipping is the fair?
Or did I screw myself?
