I'm looking at getting a Jolida 202A for my LSi 15's. This would be my first tube amp. Right now I'm running a Carver C-4000 and a M 1.0T that have been redone by Bob lest then a year ago. My qustion is are the 40 watts the 202A puts out enof for my LSi's? I know that one tube watt is like 2 SS watt but still that is only 80 watts. Thank you for your help.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

IMO, the LSi line need SS amplification. I have tried tube amps on my LSi and they only sound good at very low levels. Once you turn it up, they can't control those woofers.

Why not try a tube pre amp with your Carver amps?

The reason I'm getting the jolida is that my friend is getting rid of it so I was going to get it cheeper.

I'm interested in knowing if a tube amp would mate well with the LSi-15's, I am toying with idea of jumping into tubes.

As long as you don't use the 15's for HT or listen at concert levels, that Jolida or a comparable tube amp should work fine. They only dip down to 3ohms, so they're an easier load than LSi9's.

Very nice setup, Face! is that the X/O on the floor behind the 15? I take it you have no kid nor pet? :)
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Yes, the x-over for another speaker.

No kids and the pets have their own bedroom. :D

I'm going to listen to the jolida tomarrow on my LSis and if I like it then I will pick it up. I have never listen to a tube amp on any equipment I know so I'm not sure if I will notice a difference from my carvers.

Whoa!!! Awesome set up. That's interesting. I had no idea the 15's min was 3ohms. I had mine on the 9's.

Are you using the 8 or 4 ohm output taps?

The Stingray only has one pair of outputs and it's optimized for 5ohm speakers.

So I bought the amp and I'm loving every minute with it. I liked the warmth it added to the LSi's. The bass was a bit light so I tool the psw404s I was using on the HT and they sound amazing! Wish I had bought some tube stuff a long time ago. Can't wait to try some differnt tubes so I can see if I can tell a differce.

So i rolled some tubes a few weeks ago. I tried some EH 6CA7's and some JJ 12ax7 and at7. i felt the 6CA7s made the amp really bright. I didnt like it so i put the EL24's back in. As for the JJ's they were ok but i liked the old Hallicrafer USA tubes they are in it better so put them back in to.
