    +1....I bought a theta data basic (and sold an adcom GCD-575) and the improvement was Drastic...Night and day difference...

    do a search in here for Bada HD-22SE and it will give you review of that CD player and it will also bring up my thread from this weekend about my finding when I recently hooked up my DAC to the CD player.

    worth reading... good info.

    Just depends on where you would be happy with your system.

    lots of people are happy with a stand along CD player. and other's like to add an external DAC.

    no right or wrong way to go here.
