I think I might agree with this. The dings/marks/holes around the outer edge of the speaker are evenly spaced (even top to bottom) and don't appear to be the result of a shipping incident. Some of the differences in scratches might be due to lighting (the OP post didn't have a flash). But the original speaker has one or two scratches / marks (above the left driver and almost directly above the tweeter) that don't seem to be present in the speaker that was delivered (noting that the picture in the delivered speaker is upside down).

Perhaps the seller hoped to blame the mess on the USPS or something and pass it off with a claim, but it kind of looks like a different speaker to me.

Either way, a full refund should be given.

It's really rare that a deal goes as bad as this one did, especially with someone who has been around here for a while.

Let's hope Polkie918 comes around and does the right thing. Looks more like he should be "Polkie 9/11".

I just did a photo comparison and I believe that it is a different speaker, in the original photos it looks like a scratch that starts about 1/8" on the front baffle just above the 1st woofer on the right and it continues over the top. the way it curves around the corner is consistent with a scratch, in the after photos even though its upside down I cannot see the start of the scratch on the front baffle, did this scratch go away in shipping? also other inconsistencies if you look closely that should not occur because of a botched packing job. Weird none the less

If it was shipped via USPS and the photo's aren't consistent, then I would be filing an electronic fraud claim with the postal inspectors. The PI's aren't concerned with a crappy shipping job causing damage, however if the item was mis-represented then this moves into another area of the law.

Luke, I can't quite make out the return mailing address on the box in your photos.

You might post a closeup if things don't get right soon.

I agree. I circled (as best I could with a touchpad) marks on the seller's pic, that don't appear on what was received-notably, the scratch on the left/top of the cabinet, above the outer driver, that continues down onto the baffle. The other end seems to have a bad touch-up mark around the upper right grill mounting post. The middle one above the tweeter looks like a small gouge that is not on the 'after' pics.

My guess is this is the last we see or hear from this guy. I think he would have already responded to what is happening if he was a stand up guy.

Time to hang him by his nuts.

What the hell are these holes? it looks like the mount tabs got busted off some time ago and was not even a result of the horrible packing job and someone used small finish nails or screws to hold the grill on. If thats the case this is fraud and need to be looked into as this speaker was misrepresented. I sure as hell do not know how they could be a result of damage in shipping.

You've got an excellent point. Looks like we've got a bait and switch deal here.

i have had no contact from the seller in 13 days, (over a month since i received the item)

I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, so i guess i'll try him again after the holiday.

by the way guys while i like the bait and switch theory, i don't think it's true. the marks that look like nail or screw holes were caused by the grill banging on the speaker on its journey to my house. they are so even and regular because they match the grill's supports perfectly. i checked with a flashlight and there are no deep holes behind the marks. also as originally described the vinyl is coming up a bit and you can see that in the original photo. so the only way he screwed me is by the horrible packing job, and then halting communication.

Thanks everyone for the wholehearted support, this was my first purchase in the FM and it looked to be tarnished by one bad seed, but the outrage that has been unanimous has restored my trust in ClubPolk.

    Happy Thanksgiving.
    Luke

99% of the time, every deal goes down great. You were the unlucky one that got that 1% unfortunately.
