Rant -Political discussions

I have to say that Im a little disappointed with some of the simplistic commentary on things NOT A/V on our forum. Especially in regards to Politics.
Are political discussions against the rules of Club Polk?
I actually prefer these discussions/debates more fitting forums such as news sites.
If you agree/disagree or even if the site has a political leaning, you can duke it out on the facts and others can challenge you on your assertions. At times you can convince others to adopt your argument or you may adopt theirs without anyone loosing.
I prefer this type of a forum rather than pointless Tourettes laced shouting matches about what someone feels. If a person doesnt include at least some empirical facts, perhaps the feeling is based on a fight with the wife earlier that morning? Perhaps someone didnt take their meds? I really think its important to understand people you disagree with.
Put it another way, if Bose announced some great breakthrough in HT and it was reported by abcnews.com, I wouldnt base my decision on whether to buy on findings/ commentary from the ABC News site. That would not the proper forum.
I would however sign on to Polk Audio and a few other respected sites for providing some of the most trusted unbiased information regarding audio. I trust the experts here, because they lay all of their (audio) cards on the table. I have been privileged to read the decades of well researched and detailed observations of many of the experts on this forum. I have benefitted immensely from this information.
You guys are rightfully annoyed when someone talks about an A/V product solely regurgitating the companys Marketing Plan. Ive found aficionados here provide careful observations based on facts. Very rarely on this forum do I see a response like those cables just suck. well that may be the title of your tread, but it will surely be followed by some facts and observations. If not, someone on this site will surely challenge you on your assertion.
I just think that political matters that concern us all, are ill served by emotional sound bites with little additional information?
Im just wondering if anyone else finds these threads frustrating?
I think if we are going to veer of the topic of A/V ( if allowed on CP) you should give careful thought to your commentary and be prepared to back it up with some documented facts. When I was a kid growing up on the mean streets in The Bronx, rants were something you might do before you punch someone in the face, not an intelligent conversation.
I have little interest in how someone feels about complex issues unless they are willing to put in more than three sentences of work, and hopefully give their possible solution.

President of Club Polk -
I have no problem with it in the clubhouse, as long as it does not get out of hand or personal. If you have little interest in how someone feels stay out of the clubhouse, I like to hear what others on the board think about important issues, even political ones. These threads are not frustrating to me, they just show me these folks still care about the country.

You want the real answer? We're human beings, not robots. Trying to program people to not talk about things that are real and affect us all, whatever ideological persuasion you happen to be of, is not going to work 100% of the time.
Get over it and stop clicking stuff that's gonna set you off unless you want to be set off. I do sometimes. -

Your right Demiurge, on this I have to agree. Maybe I shouldnt get worked over this.
And I have no problem with anyone who has responded and disagreed. I respect that. I will try my best to only talk A/V on this forum, and leave other convos. here alone.
But to punks that trash talk and make it personal, its most effective when you do it face to face rather than selling wolf-tickets over the internet. If I wanted to get personal, I would only do so face to face.

First, pretty sure the Clubhouse is a place you can talk about things that ARE NOT A/V related. It's the chit-chat place. You ant A/V all the time, stay out of the Clubhouse.
