I have (2) 2 channel systems that I probably listen to more than my HT, but the HT is more versatile because I watch sports, movies, and concert DVD's.

I could have a pretty killer 2-channel if I just had one, but I like having good sound in multiple locations so that I can always listen.

No room for HT and seperate 2 channel system so thank god for the Adcom-GFP750 preamp that allows me to seperate HT from Music.

    60% music and 40% HT.

Its easy to make HT sound great, not so easy to make music sound great.

I have to disagree here - it is easy to make HT sound good. To sound great takes a lot of thought and work. (potentially as much as it would for a truely great 2 channel system - maybe more)

Combined in one rig. I'm rolling with a 5.1, but my front left and right are 11TL's for my 2-channel listening pleasure.

? Harmon Kardon AVR 55 (dead; replacing with Onkyo TX NR-616)
? Polk RTA 11TL's (FR and FL)
? Polk TSi200's (RR and RL)
    ? Polk CS10 (Center)
    ? Polk PSW-350
    ? Grado SR-60i Headphones
    ? Fii0 E5 headphone amp
    ? iPod touch (8 gig)
    ? iPod Classic (80 gig)

100% HT. If I listen to music, I run it though the 7.1 rig. 2-channel is too boring.

I don't like the Poll Choices. I have separate 2-ch and HT. I don't prefer one to the other. They are for different purposes. HT for movies and TV, 2-ch for music. I voted for the last choice. Separate>prefer 2-ch since that I how I enjoy music.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

True. But I think there's also a difference in the fact that for 2 channel you're putting all your mind in the music, so good is not really enough. It has to sound great for a great experience.
For HT, your mind is really more focused on the movie/video, so the sound comes second. Good is enough. JMO of course.

    2 rigs-
    I'd say 80% HT/tv/games (in family-ht room)
20% Music(in living room) I do want to eventually buy a TT and better speakers.

got both, but i have to vote that HT does it for me. that's where i spend most of my time. movies over music. and if i hit skid row and lose my shirt and have to sell a rig, i can use HT for music where as i wouldn't want to use 2ch for HT.

    That's me.

Same here, couldn't vote too accurately because:

    1. Basement has dedicated 7.1 HT room (95% HT) with occasional music...
    2. Living room can accomodate TV listening (50%) but most music listening done in this room due to the vintage full range speakers...
    3. Same applies to the bedroom, can accomodate TV listening (50%) and music listening on a smaller but still full range speakers...
    4. Portable 2 channels full range rig can accomodate both movies and music. I use this rig when visiting family: Deck movies in the summer and music when I am away.

2-channel baby. I'll go surround as soon as I grow 3 more ears.

When you have a totally awesome rig like mine, you don't need hokey tricks (HT/surround) hocus-pocus to hear the magic. :D

60% TV and Movies....some music in the Living Room - HT. 40% Music......and some movies in the office upstairs - 2ch.

I really like SDAs for 2ch. The classic monitor series make wonderful HT speakers.......

oh yeah - and 2ch in the bedroom for TV/Music/Movies - ya know - Bedroom entertainment.....
and 2ch garage rig that doubles for patio parties and yard work.

Will be updating the showcase soon as it has been fun taking the old equipment and making mediocre little systems for secondary purposes that remind you why you started upgrading in the first place.
