see if you can go demo a few subs locally, I can only tell you what my thoughts are on the Polk's. I know as soon as I can afford it Im going with 2 SVS subs.:D
I think the PSW10's will give it some rumble just dont expect them to pressurize the room too much. Some signals the PSW10's handle real well, some they can get a little lost with.Polk Audio Surround Bar 360

Used sub on craigslist
Best thing is you'll be able to audition before you buy it! Keep in mind, picking a decent sub for said-job is half the battle.....placement/proper setup is the rest. I've personally owned a Polk PSW10 and it handled well for the money, but I'm a big bass head so it didn't live up to my needs. My living room is a good 13' L x 14' W x 9'. Then again I've always had larger Velodyne's so I was already used to pounding bass, but if you can score a PSW10 for cheap it'll do the job. Other cheaper alternatives are Definitive Tech (used of course), older Velodyne, older Polk subs, Klipsch or even a Do-it-yourself.
DIY will require time+patience and some wood working experience, but it'll definitely give you more bang for the buck.

Are the M40's worth the extra $50 compared to the M30's?
-
Also can you use a M40 for a center?

How is the CS1 for a center?

I have a CS1 running with Monitor 70's in front and think it sounds just fine. Id wait for it to get back to 70 on newegg and snap one up because it seems like it would be a great match for the R50's (have a pair in my bedroom). As for rears, with a budget of 300 bucks you might consider getting a pair of monitor 50's for the front (99 each newegg) and moving your R50's to the back. Or, I run a pair of Rm6751 speakers for my back but have a 7.1 going and think they are OK for the small amount they do.
As for a sub, I had a psw10 a year or so back and hated it. Tried wiring it every way possible and ran it from an onkyo 505 and it hardly made any noise. As soon as it came out of the box I was disappointed. Keep checking craigslist and find something used for about $100 that will do a hell of a lot better than the psw10. -
Just got the CS1 for $70!!!! Woohoo!
-
^ Good choice, I almost upgraded to the CS2 when my monitor 70's showed up but it wouldn't fit in the space I need it to and the sound of the CS1 is great as it is. I assume it's coming from newegg so if that's the case make sure to start using bing cashback for an extra 2%.

I haven't heard them for more than a few minutes but Newegg has the OWM3's on sale for 129.99.... haven't ever seen these below 200.
