hafler dh500 and sda2b

hy ineed help ! ihave the hafler dh500 with iuse with my sda2 b but mostly the time is cutting when irise the volume up ,above quarter ,now also is switchlight is flashing . any tec ? to fix it . thanks . also another question,about the dsa2b maybe ilike to upgrade the tweeters dome to rdo 198 ! but ..... is necessary to work in my crossover ? ilike the way my sda2b sounds ,so like to keep as much close to the original . one thing is to upgd the tweeters ,another is to change the original project .

    After making a cocktail I got it, some of it anyway.

    The RDO -194 or RDO-198 will be a drop in replacement. You have to figure out which tweeters are in there now. You don't "need" to change the x-overs to replace the tweeters. Pictures will help us help you. Maybe one of the peeps here knows if the Hafler is common ground, all power sources need to be common ground when running SDA's.

    ok my question is if is possible to change the dome tweeters for the upgrade rdo198 withouth touch in thr crossover ? thanks :confused:

    well thanks , ok iwill place some picture ibelieve the tweeter are black dome , and how can ifind out thoses rdo 198 ? do you believe is one step ahead ? thanks , yes man ibeen drink a bit ,but istop now .;)

    Pull out a tweeter and read the back.Model # will be on it. You have to mod the xover to use the 198s by bypassing the resistor with a custom value 5.8uf cap you can order at soniccraft.

    The RD0-194's are the direct replacement for the 2B's. Upgrading to the 198's will require a crossover modification.

    check the fuses, I believe the power level of the amp changes depending on the fuse....I believe the ma in 10 amp? but dont quote me, I'll check one of mine to look as I know I put in the biggest size when I them them (I have 2). Great amps in my eyes that sometimes dont seem to get the love they deserve.

    I am currently running my SDA-2Bs with a Hafler DH-500. If he is blowing a polyswitch at relatively low volume settings he may need to check the DC offset in the output channels.

    I had a similar problem (poly switch opening on one channel at about 11:00 on the volume). I was also blowing the tweeter protection fuse in the same channel at about 11:00 when running my RTA-12Bs with the Hafler. The only advice I got from this forum was the Hafler was clipping at that level which I found very hard to believe given the Hafler's specs.

    I learned about output channel DC offset issues in Hafler DH-500s from another forum.

    thanks , rdo 194 is the direct replacement ,so ican change and no modification in the crossover . By change the original black dome by 194 is substancial upgrade ?

    Not yet. There is no DC offset adjustment on the Hafler so I need to get a matched set of transistors and replace. I can still use the system as long as I stay below 11:00 on the volume.

    icall mr j.hiling : he will be able to fix it ! he mention ! its an common defect after all this time ! in my case is overheating ,so the protection circuit is cutting ! thermal issues in the bottom of the amp . irather send it to the master . regards pw .

    that's good that you know what's causing the problem.. amps can have problems after they get up in age.
