thousands of 12" Lp singles for free........anyone interested?

A place here in Richmond is giving away about 100 boxes with 100 lps per box away for free. Does anyone want me to go pick up some boxes for them? No idea what the lps are but for free.....who cares. This is where I buy my lps from so I am familiar with the addy and manager. Let me know as these will go quick. Here is the ad in my local CL.

    They are standard size LP's with just one (sometimes two)track on them. Mostly they were used by radio stations, but I would see them every now and again in the record stores as well.

    One box of 100 albums will cost about $20 to ship via media mail to anywhere in the US.

    Well, I'm back. I filled up my Subaru with 18 boxes of about 100 lps each. Now time to unload. I have no idea what is in the boxes. I grabbed a dolley and started loading. There were people coming in like they were giving away free money. Will take a few pics as I go.

    Well, looks like a big portion of it is urban. First lp I pulled out was The Beatles-Sgt. Peppers lonley hearts club band. Second was Arrested Development-Mr.Wendell,third was Boyz 2 men-yesterday. Looks like mostly urban and the condition of the lps varies from piss poor to excellent. Man there is some old stuff in there like The Sugar Hill Gang,Boogie Boys,Ministry-Jesus built my hotrod (a blast from my past),UTFO,Janet Jackson,Ghostbusters 2 album.....and the list goes on and on. It's gonna take me forever to go through these.

    Now I am finding Michael Jackson,Prince,Ziggy Marley,Dr.Dre......

    If that Sgt. Pepper is in great shape and an original 1967 disc, that alone is a huge find. Is this the full LP or a single. I searched the internet breifly and could not find any reference to there having been a single released on the 12" format.

    dang good find...IF that "The Beatles-Sgt. Peppers lonley hearts club band" is a full alblum in perfect shape, it could be worth $40-50 alone. (at least at what they are selling for on here)

    There are versions of it worth several hundred dollars, and a 12" single could be worth more than the full lp.

    Some of these records are in awesome shape and some look like they came out of hurricane Katrina. I went through 2 boxes and found some really cool stuff. Like a pink lp from Natalie Cole called Pink Cadillac and one of the very first urban songs I ever heard, Basketball by Kurtis Blow. Holy crap is there alot to go through.

    I guess the easiest way to do this is I will go through these over the next week or so and make up boxes of just good condition lps. The ones that look like shiot I will toss. If anyone is near Richmond and wants to come look through some boxes just pm me and I will give you my addy so you can come by. I will not charge anything for CP members (I will give them to you for free). I will charge to ship them though.....someone mentioned $20.00 to ship a box of these but I don't see how as the boxes weigh about 30-40 lbs. each. I will find out in a few days though. I did see a commercial on tv for flate rate boxes no matter what's in them so maybe that is it. Time will tell. Oh, btw, it was 20 boxes of lps, not 18,lol.

    50 pounds via media mail=~$20.50; It's just about the only way to ship a crap-ton of vinyl or books, but be sure you reinforce the hell out of the boxes.

    You could probably fit 10-15 albums in the bigger flat rate boxes- they're $13, I think. A bit more costly, but faster and they are less likely to get beaten up.

    Been going through a few more boxes and I almost have every single Michael Jackson,Madonna,Prince singles ever made. Everything from the B-52's to Wham to ZZ Top. There is even an Elton John-Johnny be Goode lp in there. I received all this for free so what I think I am going to do is give away most,sell some,and trade some. I wasn't going to get a tt yet but now I need one,lol. I was just going to Karma all my records away but now I am going to keep the ones I had before this happened. Of course the Pink Floyd I had up for Karma is still up. Going to go through another box or two in a few. I had no idea some of these singles were worth so much. Go figure, shows how much I know about vinyl.

    Hmm...definitely count me in for a box or two. I'm just getting started with vinyl, and this would be a great way to pad my collection up a bit.

    I'm mainly into classic rock, if there are different styles through out the boxes.

    Stuff like The Dead, the Doors, Dylan, The Beatles...Zeppelin...etc...

    Everything on my car is fine. I did have it maxed out weight wise. I drove very carefully all the way home. I can say one thing though, I got a real workout carrying all those boxes up to my house. I have a 3 part sidewalk with steps on each part. The last amount of steps at my house to get in the door is 15. I looked like I had just gotten out of a pool when I finished unloading.

    For those that are interested in the records, most are Urban (old school) with some classic rock,alternative, and pop in the mix. I have not gone through all the boxes yet but I have not seen anything like Rush,Zeppelin,The Doors, or anything like that yet. I have never seen so many promo recordsin all my life.

    One thing I have run across that is quite cool is a 100% Carbon Fiber anti-static turntable mat called 'OMEGA ONE'. On the back it says, "Another SOUND SAVER Product from TRANSCRIBER CO. INC.
