I hear a lot about new systems here, and I want to know if anyone is still interested in the older systems? I am talking Super Nintendo, Nintendo, Atari, Whatever you have...
I just recently decided to bring my old systems out of the garage and have really had a blast playing all of my old games.
I currently have: 1) a Snes with about 50 or 60 games- I havent even touched this thing in years and forgot how cool it was. I really didnt remember how many games we had either, which is another bonus. 2) an Nes with only a few games- sold or traded all of my other ones for Snes games. Still a really cool system with good games like Maniac Mansion and Bigfoot and of course Mario. 3) a broken ( ) Atari. I wish this thing worked cause we have a shoebox full of games and I wasnt old enough last time it worked to play any of 'em! (anyone have a 2600 they want to sell?? :D ) 4) N64, with a bunch of games with this one too. Good system, graphics are OK, but nothing can beat Goldeneye!
5)Dreamcast, Good for playing burnt games, and it is actually a decent system. Not that old, I know, but not too recent of a system. 6) Turbo Grafx 16. The first 16 bit system and will always be cool. Unfortunately since I just found it, and we lost all the games in a fire about 9 years ago, I still cant play it. Then there is the usual portable systems like Gameboy and Game Boy Advance and Game gear, but I am talking consoles here. Watcha got???

I have, at my parents house, the original Pong game from Radio Shack.

Pretty sure that we still have the original Coleco (sp) game with the original Donkey Kong.

    Hey dthomps,
Yea, I still have the old 2600, I will never get rid of that thing, all the games, I still remember the old Colecovision......you had Hockey or you had Hockey.... I have Super Nintendo,Genesis, I could never part with Sonic, N64 which I still think has some of the coolest most fun games ever made...I actually pulled out Conkers the other day.
Now up to the new ones...Love the graphics but games these days don't seem to have the thought that was put into some of the old games, or just plain old rehashed of the old games. I did love Rachet and Clank though, I was bummed when it didn't get game of the year honors.
What's wrong with the 2600, I know the earlier units always had problems with the flimsey power connection at the unit, connected to the internal board, you would have to resolder it every now and again.....

I have a Sega Genesis and a Dreamcast. Other than that most of my gaming is on the PC. Keyword here - legacy. My "modern" computer can still play games from 1985. Now if only I could figure out how to get those Genesis cartriges in my Dreamcast's CD transport ;)

    Hey Stuff-
To be honest, I really have no idea what is wrong with the Atari. All I really know is the last time I remember it working, I was like 5. I asked my dad about it and he didnt think we even had it anymore. I will have to check the power connection, thanks for the tip.
I know what You mean about the newer games, which is what made me start this thread. I didnt even care for older systems all that much a few weeks ago, but I have really gotten back into the gameplay factor most of them have. I think the companies really had to be more reliant on gameplay and fun factors then, and now they rely heavily on graphics to rake in the cash. That is really prevelant in a lot of games made now. Too bad, if you put the great play with some of the great graphics of recent games, it would be an instant hit. But that doesnt happen too often, bummer. Mike

Mattel Intellevision here... I can remember when it was state of the art... It limps a little, but is still functional.

The oldest I have right now is a Sega Genesis. It's under the bed covered in dust, probably. Sonic the Hedgehog RULED!

I used to have an old Atari 5200. My favorite game was Joust. Thats the game where you rode atop a flying ostrich and carried a jousting pole to take out the enemy, which were also riding flying ostriches. Below you was a pit of molten lava with a hand that reached out and grabbed you if you flew too low. You had to constantly press the red button to flap the wings to fly.

I also had Missile Command for this. That kicked **** too!
