New Wire technic.

Ok so I was bored and Decided to try out another way to wire manage my Mythos ST speakers. My first attempt is what I usually do in the field with the Velcro wrap. It's clean and neat but I wanted a better way. So here is the latest in the quest for the perfect solution.
Now this is how it will be for now. I do plan on changing the powercords and maybe using Kimber 4tc with well I'm not sure what sub cable maybe Kimber Hero who knows but for now this is the make up.

Factory powercord:(
Audioquest ITA 1.1 Custom built Sub cable
DH Labs Silver Sonic 14-2 ( I like the way it sounds on the ST)
Vienna Acoustic custom Silver 90 degree banana ends.
Analsys Plus shrink wrap with techFlex Sleeving.

New way Powercord is left out as I was told it could effect my Imaging, thats not proven but I figured why risk it.

Old way which has Audioquest Gator Bananas and Velcro Wrapping. Kinda suck but it's clean.

Have you tried/ noticed a difference with and without the LFE signal? I'm debating on whether to either run a seperate cable, or using one the pairs from the FLX14/4 I'm using for the speakers right now?
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

I'm not quite sure what you mean but I have tried both ways for different reasons.
Currently I have a external sub in my Dynaudio Sub 500. It's fantastic and quick. It's musical and true. It's a perfect musical sub. Since I upgraded the sub amp(Dynaudio offered bigger caps) it's now a more powerful sounding theater sub so I get the best of both worlds out of it.
My plan is/ was not to have a external sub. I want to use just the internal subs of the ST's but I don't think they go quite as deep as the Sub 500 does nor as controlled. Maybe I'm wrong but I really Like m Dynaudio sub.

So to answer your question with a story.
I have ran LFE line out to the subs inside the ST's. They have been used for Theater and music. I also run my speakers large as Per Definitive Technology as they are suppose to be full range speakers. How they work is the speaker is full range then a LFE sub. This is a very cool thing if you want to double duty as I do. I have both speaker wire 14-2 and LFE RCA line level connected. I don't see any reason to wire them any other way unless I was going to use only my external sub for LFE. Thats not the case, I use all the subs for LFE. It's max coverage in my room. It's nice anywhere you sit you get good bass response. I moved the Sub 500 to the right side and it performs well there.
You said something about using the other 2 conductors for what? Not line level I hope, run a Coaxial or Line level designed wire man. Video cables work great. Rg59sd or RG6 also works great terminated in RCA. I use Custom Audioquest so I can have the perfect length I want. I don't use premade cables anymore. Waste for me I build them myself.

So If you are running 14-4 to your ST's , then use all 4 conductors. Use White & Red for Positive and Green & Black for negitive.

So what are you trying to do that you wanna do anything different then how I wire mine? Lets say you had a music only system, then yeah no line level is required. The only thing that would do is Que. off the preamp for full range line level. I don't know where the sub cuts out for line in but I think it's a waste. This setup I would only use speaker wire.

For theater I would use Line level unless you have other subs and don't want to use the ST subs for LFE, then speaker wire only.

    Talk to me,
    Dan

Good photos of the installation. I liked the old way though because the velcro looks to be easily removable. Did you cut the velcro wraps or just wrap the full length? Am I right in thinking that the heat shrink wrap needs to be installed before the connectors are attached to the wire?

I would love to see how you perform the wire management around the amp and AVR.

I can provide you with some wire management pic's. I'll take some this week.

Yes Spikes. they will go on after the final resting home of them. I have much work to do before I decide on a place for them. Once this place is found, carpet spikes will be Installed. For now the Plastic hardwood inserts will provide me with the ability to move them easily.

Ok so I took a few of the back of my rack. I had to pull it out to see so this is not in it's resting place so the wires are not laying like they do when back.
The wiring for this system is not all cut to perfect length. When I got the Mythos series system, the center is way to big to put inside the rack. I had my Dynaudio 122c center on the top shelf where the DVD player now lives. I would have had to rewire the entire rack with all new wiring. I didn't feel like it so I just made the best out of it I could with what I had. I will rewire it with all new wire once I decide on the future gear thats going to stay. Right now the Ps3 will probably get out as well as the DVD player. The Xbox 360 has a target on it if it breaks again(4 times so far).
I would replace the dvd/ ps3 players with the Oppo 83. I'm also considering putting all the gear downstairs in the theater space rack area in a Mid Alantic rack.
I also plan on a new TV (Finally). I hope to score a Pioneer Elite Pro151FD. We had limited amount left but so is my cash right now so I'm hoping when I'm ready there is one left for me. If not I'm going Panasonic Professional. 54-65 inch.
    Wire is the following.
Speaker wire for mains is DH Labs Silver Sonic 14-2
Sub wires are Audioquest ITA 1.1 custom built by me
    Center channel is Audioquest 14-2
    Rears are Audioquest 14-2
    Ps3 Binary 5 HDMI , Cat 5 custom
Xbox 360 Binary 5 HDMI Cat 5 custom
    DVD Binary 5 HDMI
Panamax has a Audioquest Powercord (Removed Kimber PK10 due to length)
Cable Binary 5 HDMI Audioquest ITA Analog custom built my me
Universal Remote Ipod Dock (In masterbed) Audioquest Mac 6 custom built Component with Audio and Cat 5.
Zone 2 Custom built rg6 with RCA ends feeding amp in Basement for 6 zones.
Universal Remote MSC400 has all Universal IR flashers and RfX Antenna for RF control all over house.

So here is a few pic's.

Looks pretty good Dan. Would you be interested in an all expense paid trip to the Islands to clean up my rats nest? :p;)

You had me at "the Islands".

Thanks man. My Y splitter is a Tributaries series 3. It's built well and i like the length of the legs. It works well in so many situations.

Where are you in New Jersey? We are right over the bridge in Pa. We are like 5 minutes from Trenton Nj. You could come here and I will sell you one and anything else you need.

I'm only 15 minutes from The GWB (NYC), that puts me about 1-3/4 hours from you. Are you open on Sundays? My brother lives in N. Brunswick so when I visit him I could stop by.

I agree, thanks for your inspiration and great ideas.
    Now I have a project.

Buy lots of velcro wrap, it's great and re usable. I used to use Wire ties but you end up wasting them as I change my gear and wire to much.
One day I plan on cleaning up my wires a little more , I just gotta get around to building new lengths , terminating and re directing everything properly. I'm having to much fun listening.

very nice! I can truly appreciate the time and effort you put into getting them so organized :)

If you have a small enough screwdriver and some patience you can re-use cable tie's but velcro is SOOO much easier :D
