Hi! Today I bought the SurroundBar SDA instant home theatre.Followed the instruction's for the remote controll programming. All went as planned except when I use the remote,my Samsung LN46B640R LCD tv display's a message saying (! Not Available). The soundbar is working fine, volumn goes up and down and mute is programmed as well. It's just that my tv is still getting the volumn up signall and keep's displaying the (! Not Available). So,how do I stop it from telling me over and over that the tv's sound is not available? I have my tv set on "External speaker" btw!

i have the same issue but i have a samsung LN40B630 model.
i called samsung and was told there is no way to make the message disappear because i was using the samsung tv remote and since i turned 'off' the tv speakers and chose external speakers, the tv is sensing i am trying to increase or decrease volume and telling me that function on the remote is not available.
this sucks because the only solution i could come up with is to reprogram the soundbar with a different remote and use that to specifically control volume when doing anything with this tv hooked up to the soundbar.
if you you Idig4ad came up with a solution other than the using of different remote to control surroundbar volume, i am all ears!!! -

On my tv (panasonic) - i can't shut off the built-in tv speakers so if i want the volume up or down on the surroundbar sda, the tv speakers move as well. What i did was instead of programming the surroundbar sda volume controls with the remote volume controls, i programmed them to use two other buttons on the remote that i never used (in this case - rewind for volume down and forward for volume up). Works great this way

now why didn't i think of that. simple yet effective solution.
of course if someone else other than a family member (trained) would have the annoying message flash again. -

it's the tv, not the bar's problem.
everytime i try to use any of the buttons not connected to the tv or not functional, the message 'not available' still shows up.
oh well, it was a good suggestion though.
sort of like the time i got the 'genius' idea of using a soda machine to get coins to use for a mechanical ride for my kid... no change so i popped dollar bill in vending machine, hit change like i changed my mind and presto, 4 quarters.... obvious answer right in front of us, but no one bothers to think about it until the need arises and you have an unhappy face of your kid to deal with when you say you don't have any coins... -

I also just bought the SurroundBar SDA and the Samsung 46 LED (not LCD)TV. Got it set up quickly, turned off TV speakers. Could not control volume with remote. Had to get up and manually adjust the sound bar. System is at my Summer cottage and I had to go to work. Will return this weekend to see if I can figure it out.
I also wanted to hook the sound bar to an Onkyo TXSR607 receiver.
Not sure if I can do that. Waiting to hear from Polk. Might have gone with the wrong sound bar as the beauty of the vSDA is that you don't need a receiver. -
blueshutter,

As far as Samsung remotes and LCD t.v.'s go, I had the same problem with the "Not Available" banner displaying in the center of the screen every time I used the programmed volume up / down or mute buttons. It really is a SAMSUNG issue when you select "external speakers". On my remote for my model (LNC630), the only buttons that will not elicit the "not available" banner are the A, B, C and D keys. So I programmed A and B for volume up and down, and the D key for mute. Works perfectly with the Polk IHT! No more annoying banners in the middle of the picture.
