Is 65W enough for RTi A5s or Monitor 60s?

Hey! I have a Yamaha 2-channel receiver rated at 65W, though I feel it has more power than my old JVC 100W amp. Anyway, I currently use it for a pair of RTi 4s (smallest bookshelf in that line), and love the sound. I am thinking about upgrading to a pair of floor-standers and am considering either RTi A5s or Monitor 60s. What do you guys think? Do I have enough power for these? I listen mainly to music at low (intimate) volume levels. Thanks for your advice!

You'll be fine. Both the RTi's and the Monitors are pretty efficient, and real easy to drive.
They would definitely benefit from more power, but you'll be fine powering them with 65 watts as long as you're careful with the volume knob. Don't turn it up too high. The nirvana inducer-

Granted, this calculator does not take into account and "actual experiences, but technically using the "Amp power required" calculator that someone posted on another thread...
input distance: 4m
speaker eff: 90dB
amp head room: 3dB (min recommended) headroom to keep the amplifier(s) out of clip.
req'd dB: 93.1dB (max listening)
= 65w amp

Hope that helps -
It will do the job for sure but, it won't hold a candle to a separate power amp.Living Room Rig:D

You have received some good advice. I had an H/K 645 (75W) driving my RTi8s and they sounded very good. However, when I upgraded to a Sunfire TGR-3 (200W), the sound went to a different level. the Yammy will do but if it has preouts try to find an external amp, it can make a world of difference. For a while I listend to my rti8 with my H/K avr254 and it did a decent job. Then I hooked up a parasound hca2205at amp and it was the last time I will ever go w/o an external amp.
