Funky smell from refurbed RTi A7s

I just got my new RTi A7s hooked up and have been enjoying them for a few days now. My only problem is a slight chemical smell coming from my speakers.

I only notice the smell when the speakers are working, and it gets fairly strong after playing loud video games or watching a movie. I'm thinking it's just normal manufacturing chemicals cooking off (outgassing?) because my speaks are new. I'm hoping the smell fades over time.

Is this normal? Is it toxic?

Has anyone else noticed this, and been bothered by it?

My old RTi8s did this. I think you are just smelling burn-in, literally. That being said, no other speaker of mine has done that. Don't be alarmed unless it gets real bad and doesn't go away.

    It'll go away soon.

The new smell will go away over time. My A9's and a5's have that same smell.

The resins in the manufacturing process are not " fully cured " and would guess that your NOT breaking them in as you would on a NEW set , and you are falsly curing the resin' I read this in a Tech book after rebuilds. Resin not completely cured and getting heated up again. Play it softer and give it more time and should go away.

Yeah, they are smelling a little less funky now. My new Onkyo 876 has a different funk to it, and I just added a refurbed CSi A4, so I guess the stench will be with me for a while.

With my luck, by the time the smell fades from all these, I will finally get a pair of surround speakers and the funk will begin anew.

I guess I'm the only one who's ever been bothered by it? I have never liked that "new car smell" or any kind of manufacturing chemical, I guess I'm just chemically sensitive. The smell was burning my eyes and making me gag for a day or two.

It's good to know that the smell will fade over time, thanks for the reassurance guys.

As long as it doesn't smell like formaldehyde you should be OK.
Or worse yet ammonium for eclairs, before it is placed in the recipe.
I was had once on that, here, tell me if this smells bad.
And of course, we usually fall for it.
    At least I do.
But, hopefully it doesn't smell like that.
Ammonium, definitely takes your breath away for a bit.
