    Anything and everything by Nickleback!!!!!

    They are the Def Leppard of today IMHO...

    I must agree, however I think we have digressed beyond the OP's original question into a "what bands do I hate most" kind of thing.
    True, most of the songs listed are "classics" by definition. But classics are likely to be the most overplayed. (As previously stated by others)
    Def Leppard (?) and Nickleback will NEVER achieve classic status in my book. Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin are most definitely worthy of both their "classic" and "overplayed" status. :D

    Love both bands immensely, but I stand by my first post in this thread. :p

    if we could conjur up a bit more negativity the Dark Lord might appear....

    its music and it seems the folks responsible for playing it are not bivouacking in your little world.

    I find nothing here to warrant my presence. Musical tastes are all subjective, and so long as you all share my veiws there will be no need for me to leave a garrison here.

    The most overplayed garbage in the galaxy is RAP MUSIC and HIP HOP of any kind. And yet no one mentions "Hotel California"? Either the original studio version or the later live version, I could live without the song for the next decade or so....

    Southeast Virgina has **** for stations..

    Have you ever listened to "Out of the Box" with Paul Shagrew (sp?)? Its broadcast at 7pm each night on one of the local Public Radio stations that can be picked up in Williamsburg (though I can't recall whether its the Richmond- or Norfolk-base NPR station (maybe WHRO???) which might greatly affect your ability to pick it up depending on your location.

    Anyway, he plays a pretty good selection college radio / indi stuff. Though the previous DJ that filled the same time slot, Raleigh Bristol, was even better. The reason I'm fuzzy on the details is that I no longer live in Williamsburg, but only visit my family there during the holidays.

    What exactly does AOR mean? I think I have an idea, but I'm too lazy to google. Any takers?

    Is it fair to blame the songs for being so far above the rest of the slop that was being played that these classics get a lot of airtime to make up for the slop?:D

    AOR = Album Oriented Rock

    The transition from from AM top 40 music to AOR FM music in the mid 70's was S-W-E-E-T (even if those songs are overplayed today).

    Machine Head was one of the first cassettes that I ever had...probably when I was about 6-7. I used to jam that tape out like crazy on my little boombox...lol

    Yes and it is quite good. Tough to find now though...as are most of the rock SACDs since they are mostly OOP.
