These are the songs, that might have been good, but the local program directors went overboard:mad:

Sweet Home Alabama
Born to be Wild
Magic Carpet Ride
Kashmir
Tom Sawyer
Limelight
C'mon Feel the Noise(QR)
Bohemian Rhapsody
We Will Rock You/ We Are The Champions
Don't Fear the Reaper

That's all for now, but you get the idea:rolleyes:

Great list obie. I'd add a few :

    Bad to the Bone
    Stairway to Heaven
    Hotel California

And for anyone who went to college at the same time I did, anything by Sublime.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

    Paranoid
You Shook Me All Night Long
    Train Kept' a Rollin (Aerosmith)

I've always loved Paranoid and Train Kept a Rollin - wish they wouldn't play them so much though.

It has to be "Happy Birthday". People in their 30's-80's come into my restaurant and their friends insist on singing happy birthday to them like they're 5 friggin years old. How embarrassing. Oh yeah, and the song sucks too lol.

I NEVER listen Classic Rock on the radio...mainly because I have nearly every classic rock album I want on LP or CD. I only listen to them when I want. I will never tire of either one. Hell...I may crank LZ IV and Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd when I get thorugh with The Razors Edge....

Keep it up guys...you are creating a great playlist for the afternoon by the pool. Many of these songs get overplayed because for the most part they are good...and like I said...I don't listen to Classic Rock on the radio so this is some stuff I haven't listened to in a while.

+1 on that Shack. I've got them all too and try to avoid Classic Rock radio. Besides, these songs are best played in the context of their entire album.

Nevertheless, when I do stumble upon a classic rock station on the radio and "Freebird" is playing, I cringe.

I couldn't of said it better myself.

Question: How many drunk sorority girl sing-a-longs to Sublime happened at EVERY party I attended in college?

    Answer: One too many.

This isn't always a bad thing. I play guitar and sing, and I know numerous Sublime songs. When you're the one LEADING the drunk girls in the sing-a-long...it can really work out for your benefit. It's kind of like a "get your pick of the litter" deal at times. Drunk girls love hearing someone play Sublime songs...this is something that I've figured out over time.

    Plus, Sublime kicks ****.

I'll throw in Touch of Grey and Truckin' by the Grateful Dead. Both are good songs, but I've heard them both too many damn times. Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan. Again, it's a great song, but I've heard it too many times.

I'll throw in Yellow Submarine. I've heard it so often I'm not sure I'll ever enjoy listening to it ever again.

    Also, Love me Tender (Elvis).

I've always told my wife I was going to make a CD of the biggest whip songs of all time. It would probably sell like hot cakes. I'm going off subject a little here as these songs aren't so much overplayed as they just whip me to death.

Yes, after one has heard a song a few times it does become old. Having been around in the 60s and 70s, hearing, and buying, most of those songs/albums when they were released has burnt them into my brain. If I never hear any of them again it will be to soon. There is plenty of other music out there to experience without having to waste time listening to the same song, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.....

On the other hand, they were good tunes at the time, and Classic Rock radio stations help expose new listeners to these old songs. Who knows, maybe a new listener will turn out to be another Jack White, and actually create some new rock music.
