We didn't have 36" tv's either, I had to make some compromises. Cable was available in Saint Louis around 1978/79, but we didn't get it until around 1981.

I was thinking about the same thing :). You need one of those console TVs - big, furniture-like, even if it will be used as a stand... I was thinking about sticking an LCD TV into one of those console boxes, but heat dissipation will be a problem.

Good to see you posting Steve!!! Awesome "retro" room. I can almost see the cast of "That 70's Show" using your mancave! Then you'd have to put a foot in their ****. Very cool

Great job steve, looks like so many first apartments I have seen usually with 2 or 3 friends splitting cost............and ending friendships.

We actually had cable in the 60's, distance and mountains prevented good/consistent reception. So a local nerd (not sure what he would have been called at the time) got a good portion of the town to invest with his venture (by guarantying a fixed cost of $7 a month) purchased land put up large antennas and amps, and re-transmitted the over the air signals on a closed circuit system. Satellites entered the picture and he added some of the super stations and maintained the $7 for original households. Sold it and retired comfortably, now the cost is about $54 for basic. Sorry for the side note but the retro pics had me reminiscing.

The main form of entertainment in our den up until 3 years ago or so was an old Curtis Mathis console TV. It finally gave up the ghost.

I don't know man, there would be a turntable in there if it were authentic. And what are those shiny CD looking thingys to the right of the receiver? Are you some weirded out space alien from the future? Leave that funky technology where you found it, we will all be thankful in the future. :)

An avocado fridge would make the room!
