Paradigm Signature S2s are better then Studio but not by much
    Signatures have (Be) tweeters
    Studio 20s v5
BE-718 (Pricey but very nice again Be tweeter)
PSBs Platinum M2 are nice as well
    Revel M22s (nice very neutral)
    Sierra-1s (good for price)
    ACI Sapphire
    B&W 805s (nice but expense)

I take S2s maybe from someone on ebay.. Weight of the cabinet is kind of a give away

    Steve,
Did you ever get these? I've spoken to Fritz on the phone about a half dozen times... VERY passionate guy. Curious to hear some Polk reviews.

EDIT: The search feature is my friend. LOL I'll take a look.

(I wanted to bring this thread back anyway)

I have to disagree with you. The S2's outperform many towers I have auditioned. In my opinion, they are better than the Studio 100's and well above the 20's.

My NHT Super Ones were always fantasic...Not often do you see an acousitc suspension bookshelf. Had a pair of Athena AS-B1's that rocked for 99 bucks a pair! I wouldnt call my Yamaha NS-500m's with a 10" 3-way design with the Titanium midrange and Berrylium tweeters a "Bookshelf" speaker, but they called it one, so they has to be on my list.

I always liked The NHT SB3s. I regret having never bought a pair back in the day. I know I could probably find a pair now...but I really have no where to use them now. Of course they could always sit down in the basement with the rest of my collection of speakers.

    Current favorite???

    B&W CDM-1NTs.

More mid-range warmth than the RTiA3s and more treble 'sparkle' than the sleepy LSI7s.

And for a used half-off price on audiogon - a good value....for now...until the next step in the sonice adventure! :D

One that impressed me back in the 80's was a pair of Dahlquist bookshelves. The other was NHT. Both were very impressive.

B&W DM302's, if you can find a pair. Simple, small, paper cone woofer, soft dome tweeter - magical.

My RT7's will go to the grave with me.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Second the DM302's. I just bought a mint pair of DM601 S2's that I like even more. The EPI 100's in my living room are pretty groovy.

For me it's the JBL HLS610 in my 6.2 system. I bought them at BB for 100.00pr and bought 2pr on Ebay for 50.00pr. So go ahead start making fun of me:D I know there not high dollar but they sound very good and had very good reviews and on a positive side they do not have foam surrounds it's rubber so they should last a long time.

Post #37 Mark-Danial's just made my virus SW go berserk wish i had read the other poster that warned of that first.

I picked up a pair of KLH 17s at my local thrift about 2 weeks ago... And I believe they give my Dynaco A25s a run for their money.

Old technology speakers with a sweet sound.

The SVS MBS-01 will give anyone a run for their money at $800. They are not the best, but by far the best for the MSRP with their Scan-Speak Air-Circ tweeter and Peerless woofer.

The stands are a better design than the actual loudspeaker.

B&W 602 S2's are the best bookshelves I've had in my living room. I had those for 10 years until the SDA's kicked them out;) I liked the Dynaudio 52SE's in a showroom, but never got them home. So much to hear:D
