Caught the (indefinitely) last show in Chicago on Saturday 8-29-09.

It was amazing.

The energy from the crowd & from Trent....off the charts.

Very happy I was there. :)

I tried unsuccessfully to get tix to one of those shows.
Saw them on Wave Goodbye 3 times. Atl, Noblesville, Charlotte. Thought Charlotte was the last one.

This is definitely my favorite band. Reznor is a genius.

10 shows over the years was not enough.

I could have gone to that show actually...one of my friends had an extra ticket and offered to sell it to me for cheap since the 29th was my birthday. But...ehh...I had better things to do. I don't regret missing it. I like NIN, but I don't ever really listen to them.

Good to hear you had a good time there!!:)

Yes, vc69, I am indeed very fortunate to have made it to the last Chicago show.

    It is actually bittersweet.

There was always a post concert let down (of sorts) but there was always a next time to look forward to.

    Not anymore.

So many things make that show so much more than anything I've ever been to before.

Absolutely. Judging by the "halo" screen name, you're obviously a fan.;) Good to hear you had a good time!

I like NIN...I saw them 5-6 years ago actually. It was a great show...but my tastes in music have changed a lot since high school. I still pop NIN in every now and then.

Well... if it's any solace, I drove all the way from Louisville to Jersey to see what was supposedly the Cure's (second to) last concert before finishing at Madison Square Garden. As they are my favorite band, I understand how bittersweet that feeling was for you. That being said, I've been to three of their concerts since - one of 'em in the second row, dead center.

And BTW, I saw NIN twice on the Downward Spiral tour. Both times were ridiculously awesome.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Well, the halo has a few different meanings but that is one of the big ones & thanks - it was a very good time :)

I understand about taste in music changing. I started w/ Trent in '91 in my junior year of HS. It's hard & not good to be angry all the time ;) To be honest I started to get away from them after a ticket snafu earlier this year and them playing lolapalooza last year (which isn't accessible for me).

When I heard my friend had tickets for the last show - I was right back where I started - totally stoked. :D

Trent has been on tour since With Teeth in '05. I think he just needs a break. He made a few nice comments during the show - leading us to believe, eventually / hopefully, he'll be back on the road cuz he's going to keep making music :)

Caught them a couple of times down in Carolina. They put on a great show and the systems I heard them through were actually pretty decent.

That is the unanimous consensus over at the fan forum as to why he chose the Aragon Ballroom for the 2 Chicago shows - everyone felt the sound was really impressive. :) Downside is that it only holds 4500 people.

I missed this one. Last time I saw them was With Teeth at the all state. My guess is that we will see more of Trent.

Glad you had a memorable event Victor. Good to see you posting, How have you been? NIN hasn't been in my rotation lately...........but I think that will change.

I remember seeing Ozzy back in '91 I believe. It was the No More Tours Tour. Look what happened after that. So you may very well see them again live someday.

Yeah, but I trust Trent Reznor when he says NIN is over. I feel certain we'll see more of him. Just not in the former configuration. He has posted regularly about his intention to move in a different direction. I have every confidence that it will be interesting and perhaps even better. He has never disappointed me yet. He is getting married, producing other artists and staying sober. His life is changing and I would imagine so will his music. We are the same age and I know how different my priorities are these days. I'm sure his have changed as well.
I was lucky to have seen NIN 10 times over the years. Traveling long distances to do so I might add. They are/were incredible to experience live. The Downward Spiral remains a benchmark recording for an entire genre and an audiophile delight. I am gonna miss looking forward to the next NIN tour, something that has been part of my rock n' roll lifestyle for years now.

I'm personally excited to see what comes next though.

Halo, I'm glad you got that experience. I have had the same one a few times with NIN. There is something truly unique about a NIN show and when the vibe is right, it transcends the normal concert experience and becomes something very special. Amazing really.
