My friend Jerry just bought the 1.2's from Speedy and I was wondering if the binding post polarity is correct. The following pic shows the positive on the right as seen in the photo, however, the positive is on the left on my 1.2 TL's. Any thoughts? Thanks
Mike

Speedy advertised them as SDA SRS, do the serial number plates say otherwise?

Anyway, I seem to recall that the SDA SRS have the positive on the right, but that later versions have the positive on the left. If you want to be 100% sure (I would) pull the crossover plate and follow the binding post leads to the crossover connections, which should be marked + and -.

Serial numbers are 5016 and 5038. I am also trying to figure out if these are 1.2's as they are pin/blade. He advertised them as SDA SRS but his signature lists them as 1.2's. I asked Speedy if I could put RDO 198's in them and he said yes (the crimp connectors on the positive wires would have to be replaced with a wider connector to accomodate the wider post). I read in the forum that way back when you could buy an upgrade kit from Polk and convert them to TL's along with replacing the tweeters with SL3000's and I'm wondering if this why Ben did the upgraded XO's.

I'm also going to pull a stereo and a dimensional MW and see what version they are. I'm hoping these can be converted to TL's....I commented in the FS thread about this possibility.

    SDA-SRS 1.2
    -Small PCB crossover - yes
    -Different driver rows - ?
-Cut/molded cabinet structure - yes and they have the exact same internal cross
    bracing as my 1.2 TL's.
-9-screw panel(?) - Polk used spare parts from previous models as a cost cutting measure
-Blade/pin interconnect - YES!!!!!! I think these are 1.2's. Did Polk ever make a SDA SRS with a pin/blade? If not they have to be 1.2's, right?

    Stereo MW is 6503

You have 1.2's when you get the RDO 198's you will have to terminate the colored wires on your tweeters to 1/4" terminal's then you will have the 1.2tl's.

    Congrats!!!

Ben did the same work on my 1.2's to 1.2tl's...

    Enjoy your tunes!!!

Not sure how many hours are on those crossovers, but after about 150-200 hours you will notice a big difference in the low end, the bass will knock you back in you seat.

When I listened to them yesterday at Speedy's they sounded awesome. I questioned the polarity but I was only able to confirm this morning that Speedy had them hooked up in reverse polarity.

Also if these speakers are not spiked, Spike them don't think about it "just do it".

Also get some dynamat for the driver's, But I say spike them first you will be amazed.

Even if they're 1.2's, RD0-198's will not work unless you make changes in the crossover.

Technically, no. But, his crossovers were modified so they're now the same as 1.2TL's.
