Flat speaker wire

I am looking at trying out some flat speaker wire (tape type). I see most use one type of a terminal block or another. Does anyone know of other ways to terminate these? Can they be soldered? Can the conductor be rolled/folded and used in common banana plugs and/or binding posts?

Thanks for any comments.

You can use a hole puncher and slide the wire under the binding post nut or you can spend $$$ and buy Goertz style termination.

Thanks Face, never thought of the hole punch, and while the Goertz are not an arm and a leg I'll have to think about that for a while.

I have used flat speaker wire before. I used standard bananas on these and simply rolled the wire into a rounded "pig-tail" shape before inserting into the banana plug like you suggested. The only difficult thing about the flat wire was stripping the wire. I used a razer to cut the insulater and hand-pulled it away to expose the bare copper. It worked, but it was a pain. My wire strippers are for round wire (as are most).

Not sure if you missed your reference link or pic what ever you were questioning, but this is what I am looking at:

Now I am questioning: has anyone removed this after a year or so, does it cause much damage when removed?

I have thought about using flat cables also - what sort of experiences have others had with these? Are they as good as thick cables I have now?

    Thanks,
