Don't think Toymotor doesn't have problems.

How ironic this piece of news is just coming across the news....
NEW YORK (AFP) – The US division of Japan's Toyota on Wednesday recalled some 95,700 cars in the United States, saying icing in cold temperatures could impair the braking system.

The recall affects the 2009 and 2010 models of the Toyota Corolla and the 2008 and 2009 models of the Scion xD -- all equipped with 1.8-liter engines, Toyota said in a statement.

Toyota said it found that if the vehicle was operated in extremely low temperatures, there was a possibility that condensed moisture from the positive crankcase ventilation port could seep into the brake system vacuum port and freeze.

The accumulation of ice could gradually decrease the power assist to the brakes "and lead to lengthened vehicle stopping distances," it said.

The recall was issued in 19 states where low temperatures are typical: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

LOL, I just changed the front and rear brakes on my 2005 Toyota Sequioa tonight. Only cost was parts, like stated in a previous post, I am not going to pay 4 times as much for something that is easily done by me or me and a buddy for cost of parts. Brakes are def. one of those scenarios.

My wife got home after spending an hour and a half at the dealer waiting for the job to be completed. How **** sad is that she had to wait for that long because the braking system in her NEW car is WRONG and or POORLY designed.
Its only going to get far worse when the government takes total control of the auto industry. Can you imagine???

No charge this time!! I am sure they will try to pull a fast one in 12,000 miles if they don't have a recall before that.

I was at Clinton Honda in Clinton New Jersey.

The car will be back in for service next week. I am going to be one angry MFer. I can feel that the brakes are going already. Less than 6,000 miles on this set of rear brakes and I think they are worn out. I am getting pissed just thinking about it.

    Oh Well.... I've been Punk'd...

Honda only covered a percentage of the costs of replacing the rear brake disk pads

My appeal for reimbursement was denied so I am out of pocket $$.

Honda does not recognize that there is a problem with the rear brake premature wear and actually told me to contact a third party ( suggesting a lawyer ?? ).

Please let me know how you do at Clinton and if they are covering the second round !

They are going to cover it or I will raise holy hell. I have already threatened to leave the car in the lot and walk away from it and pay the nominal fee's. I know they won't be "nominal" fee's but it will make me feel good. I will not pay one cent for brakes on that car until it reaches 50,000 + miles and they have it recorded in my file. The folks all agree at Clinton Honda there is a problem. You should call them, 908-735-0800 and speak to Sandra or Michelle in CS. Don't tell them I sent you
Raise hell with your dealer. DON"T take that B.S. raise hell. They know they have a premature wear problem at Honda USA.

My dealer is in Ellicott City Md name is O'Donell Honda
and I am stuck paying and attempting to appeal but so far it is a no go.

Your dealer in Clinton may be covering the cost for the first one ???

I just filed a formal complaint at this site...

    http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

click on begin form to file....

by the way the " official Honda " word is that there is NO PROBLEM
it is considered wear ( OUCH)

I will go to the newspaper and any other sorry **** that will listen to me.

The service was covered under one time "warranty good will". I made sure they noted my customer account my concerns about the premature brake wear and that I will not pay for any premature wear.

I would just ask them if theyre really prepared to lose a customer that will spend another $xx,**** in a few years for another car over a set of brake pads....if that doesnt convince them, screw em. Change the brake pads and throw the old ones as the new S2000 they have sitting in the show room...thatd make me feel better;)

Have you popped off the rear wheels and given it a good look this time...or are you just hearing the wear indicator scraping the disc ? I believe you posted on 8/27 that your wife came home after the repair....exactly how many miles from that job to now ?

If its like their issues with brakes in the past, one pad will look new and one trashed

It's been 5,000 miles and I won't pull the wheels off. The Honda will go to the dealership express service Monday for them to check them out and I will post exactly what they find. I have a bad feeling its not good based on my right foot and ears. The brakes seems a little soft and I hear what could be a faint grinding from the rears. Maybe its just me or my wife being cautious. We'll see.
Thanks for the thoughts and advice.

I think you may just have some incompetent mechanics at that dealership.... :( If i was closer i'd take a look at it, brakes are "my thing." You tend to get a little anal about braking setups after a few track days. :p

    Thanks thats nice.
Numerous employees at the dealership told me Honda USA is aware of the problem with premature wear. I think some dealership have liars more so than poor mechanics.
