Congrats to you both. Ask if they took her ovaries, if they didn't then she won't have to go through hormone replacement therapy which can be rough.

But I'm happy that things are going to turn out ok. Tell her to take it easy & to FOLLOW THE MD'S ORDERS. They know what they are talking about when they tell her not to do things.

No it won't, it's called adoption. Her good health is far more important, and having energy & strength to take care of a baby makes all the difference in the world!

Definately good news. Depending on your GF's age the hysterectomy will be hard for her if she wants children. Good luck and wishing the best.

Agree and my point was it may be tough on her mentially for a while and to be patient. Absolutely her health is the most important part. Agree that there are a lot of children out ther that need loving mothers and a lot of mothers out there to provide that love.

Hormone replacement therapy is not a necessity after a full hysterectomy, but some doctors do recommend it.

I am home for a few hours nap as she has a room full of friends and family and you don't get much sleep in a chair in the hospital. Yes she did have to have a full hysterectomy, the doctor said it was no big deal, she will have to wear a hormone patch or take a pill till she gets in her 50's she is 37 now. And neither one of us really wanted to have children. We like or nieces and nephews though.

    Thanks again all!

Amazing story. I don't get into this section often, so I'm reading this thread for the first time. You and your girlfriend will be in our prayers. It is times like these are really put toys like speakers and home theaters in perspective.

That's terrific news Kevin!!! I'm happy and relieved for both of you. Get some rest & make sure your GF takes it easy for the next few weeks. It's going to take time, and she should listen when her body tells her to stop & rest.

She is doing good, she still needs help occasionally to get in bed or get out, needs her food made and that sort of thing and shouldn't be left alone. She will get half of her 48 staples out tomorrow and the rest on Thursday. Her sister is unemployed and was going to help so I could get back to work but is also 5 months pregnant and currently sick, so that leaves me. I got sick last night and am on Theraflu and trying to avoid contact with her so I do not get her sick, but I am so thankful it is going to be OK, to hell with all the speakers and crap this is what really matters IMO.

    Thanks, Kevin

Theraflu and some Coldeeze or Airbourne will help a little, it's hard to fight off illness with lack of sleep and fatigue. I am glad that is the only illness between the two of you now versus the worst concerns previously. Luckily it does not impact your preference towards having children, but as others have sad there are soo soo many kids in need of good homes that options will always be available.

Agreed I have no problem with adopting. I dont care who made it, it takes a real man or woman to raise children. All I have done today is sleep in-between the time my girlfrien needed me and feel like a truck ran over me.
