I-sonic temperature

I am curious to know if ther is something wrong with my i-sonic (original version). When the unit is turned off for long periods of time but remains connected so that the clock still works, the temperarture of the top cover is always unusually hot. Is this normal in this unit or is there something wrong with mine?
