psw120 subwoofer not powering on...a bit confused.

I am just setting this PSW 120 subwoofer up after a move. There is no power light on when plugged in. I opened it up and the fuse looks fine.

I am trying to remember the wiring configuration from last time, but I used a cable from the receiver to the subwoofer in as I assumed it should be.

Does this subwoofer power light only go on while music/sound is going thru it?

Is my wiring correct? I can't find the manual online on this site.

I also tried a speaker wire directly into the subwoofer, then out to that speaker and I get sound, but the subwoofer is not working.

So a bit confused here. Could use some tips!

Regarding your sub, not sure exactly how the rear looks like/etc but alot of subs when in "OFF" or standby mode, they usually have a red LED on, and a green LED when its switched on. Is there a red LED thats supposed to be on anywhere? Also as far as speakers working when connecting a source via speaker terminal inputs, maybe the driver itself was disconnected from the plateamp during the move, or something came loose. Hope this helps!

One other thing to check is to make sure your sub option on your AVR is set to "yes" or "present" or whatever the case may be. I am assuming it worked before you moved and chances are the AVR settings haven't changed, but hey stranger things have happened right? Welcome to Club Polk.

They can probably walk you through a couple checks, let them know the manual is not on line so they can add it.

If what Jeff and kawizx9r gave you did not help then you would need to talk to them anyway for repairs if you go that route.

there is no red or green light on the sub when plugged in. strange that is was not built with an on / off switch in the first place. but this leads me to think it is a power problem. but as I said I did check the fuse and it seemed fine. so a tech support call is likely in order.

I have not even checked for a sub option on the avr. will do that now....checked. nope saw no setting for "yes" or "present" on the receiver.

I was going from the audio output left and right of the receiver to the left and right inputs on the subwoofer. and this did nothing as it is not getting power.

so the mission continues....

What AVR are you using? You said you hooked it up to the audio output left and right of the reciever, does your AVR not have a Subwoofer Pre-Out input? I see that the 120 only has left and right inputs, not LFE but I'm not sure this would cause the sub to not turn on. If it was getting power I would imagine the standby light would atleast be on even if it wasn't getting a "signal" from the AVR. Like apphd suggested, maybe shoot Polk CS an E-mail or a phone call and see what they can do. They are spot on, and one of the main reasons I purchased Polk speakers in the first place. Good luck and keep us posted.

I did not see a subwoofer out on this receiver. It is a Yamaha RX-V590.

I looked up your receiver, check the backside and look for a SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT. There should be one back there, its where you're supposed to connect your subwoofer to. In your Yamaha setup, around speaker config/etc you'll have the option to utilize that output by selecting YES/ON for a subwoofer option.

How did you check the fuse? Just looking at it? If you have a multimeter, check for continuity across the fuse. If not, maybe try replacing the fuse with another to see if that works. I have seen some fuses blow where the break is under the metal cap and you can't actually see the break in the wire.

On the back of the receiver there is a RCA jack that says "Low Pass" that is right below the center jack. This is your sub jack. This jack is one of the 6 in the "OUTPUT" section on the back near the top right (if you are facing the back) of your receiver.

Real simple question here, just to cover the basics. Please take no offense. Have you checked to verify that the outlet is actually getting power. I ask because it may be controlled by a light switch.
