I've just finished making new speaker cabinets for my HT system.
I have tried to maintain the internal dimensions from the donor speakers but turn them into floor standers ( small, remember these are for a UK size room )
now i'm sending them off for final finishing and i cant decide what colour at the moment i'm thinking Piano gloss black for the sub (Polk driver and amp) and center, not shown, and Piano gloss white for the front and rears. what do you think ?????
Please help me decide.

Cheers, I'm afraid i made them up as i went along, utilising the components from some bookshelf speakers i already had, a pair of Wharfedale Diamond and a pair of Eltax Monitor. I have kept the internal dimensions the same as they were but tried to make them look better as floor standers. I'm trying to start a HT on a budget but i want it to look good. -
I'd like black better.

Very nice cabinets polkhappy  Personnally, I'd go black as I would be afraid white would too distracting in a HT atmosphere.
Cheers!

Piano gloss white all round, including the sub! That'll make them look more unique IMO, and less of that boring ol' black everywhere. The sub will be especially unique in white, since it's not something you see every day. It should also make them look smaller and less overwhelming, especially if your room is smaller than 12' x 18' x 8'.
Other interesting piano gloss options, IMCO (in my crazy opinion), and depending on your room dAlea jacta est! -

Thanks for all the comments guys but i'm still no wiser, i told the wife red and you can imagine the response . I've got a bit of finishing off to do tonight than there off to the finishers on Friday morning. He reckons about 2 weeks to complete with about 10 coats to get a deep gloss.
I'll post pictures once finished.
Then its off to get the Harmon Kardon AV receiver :D:D:D -
Black vote here. Nice job on the cabinets!

What color are the drivers and tweets?
Black on the Wharfedales, which will go in the cabinets on the right, and silver/black on the Eltax.
The sub bass tube is black, i've made it down firing to stop my kids bashing it so you wont see the driver.
All will have custom made stainless spikes.:D -
If you have no need to ever resell these, go by the color of the room they are going in. For example, if they were going in my living room, I may make the speakers a deep maroon, and the subwoofer purple
Those are beautiful...have fun with them!2 Channel/HT:
Sony SS-M9 P's (ES version)
Sony SS-M1CN Center Channel
Polk RT800 Surround Speakers
Odyssey Stratos Dual Mono Amplifiers
TAD 150 Signature Tube Preamp
Harman Kardon HK354
Sony SACD Player -

We have some satin cream furniture in the room and i must admit i had thought about that but wasn't sure if that would look a bit naff. I know i'm making the speakers but i dont want them to look home made i want a professional look. -

Have you thought about using a wood veneer and staining them.......
Or I'd go with black, it should compliment the Cream furniture.
